  1. 1. Who's going to win the Formula 1 WDC 2010?

    • Mark Webber
    • Lewis Hamilton
    • Sebastian Vettel
    • Jenson Button
    • Fernando Alonso

Inspired by an Autosport article - 'Alonso: Title chances are 50 per cent'.

Realistically spoken only the top five in the driver rankings still have a chance to win the WDC. Is Alonso correct? Does he have a chance to win his 3rd WDC this year? Or is it going to be one of the others?

Personally I think Webber is going to make it. He has the best car in the field at his disposal, and makes fewer mistakes than his team mate.

Who's your pick?

alonso neither deserves it nor will win it this year. bar the last 2 races, his driving is still very error-prone and inconsistent. also, lets not forget that ferrari will most likely have to get a 10grid penalty in the last races as they are on their 6th engine already with only 8 allowed this year.

in the current form, i'd go for webber. he is outstanding, very fast and i guess the more the team puts behind vettel, the more webber will get motivated to show he is just as fast and good. redbull has a car which is fast on every kind of track.

i give hamilton an outside-chance too. he will have good races, and hopefully mclaren can improve a bit. it could be, that spa, interlagos, and some other races will be wet races and the more, the better for hamilton. he is really in a class of his own (well, together with sutil i think) on wet track.

so my pick is webber > hamilton > vettel.

others dont stand a chance.

Hamilton, Redbull have had the best car this entire season and Webber is 1st 4 points ahead of Hamilton and Vettel is 3rd even after having SEVEN pole positions and he's won 2 races, they should be miles ahead, if Hamilton gets even a half decent car he'll win if not then Webber, Red Bull need to select Webber as there main driver if they want to win; Vettel has managed to screw up what should have been the easiest championship for him to win.

I *want* Hamilton or Button to win the championship, being a Mclaren supporter. If not any of those, I think Webber more than deserves the title, and its been a long time coming too. Let's not forget that Ferrari could still face further issues from the WMSC in September which could severely damage Alonso's championship chances.

Mark Webber for sure. One of the most likable people in Formula 1. He's had his stint with bad cars (Minardi, Jaguar) and I believe he thoroughly deserves to win the World Championship. Vettel has lost my respect this year, he's nothing but a sore loser.

Webber is a whiny little B*. I can't understand how so many people like him, all he does is complain complain complain. Teams will give the advantage to the driver with the most points, that's just how it works, whether this is an official rule set is neither here nor there - he knew the score when he started driving. Webber doesn't 'deserve' to win nor has it been a long time coming - if that is your attitude, think about drivers like Barrichello.

He's just like Button - a mediocre driver at best. They've both spent the best part of the last decade not really going anywhere and then they get the perfect car with the perfect setup and they do well for a season or two. Its people like Hamilton who can be dealt a really poor car and still stay competitive that are the truly good drivers.

And those of you who are blaming Vettel are clearly delusional. Do you honestly think that any of the team orders have been his choice - he does not make the decisions... his team does.

Your kidding right? Hamilton has driven for McLaren for all of his F1 career. Yes, he had one difficult season, big whoop. When the car couldn't perform, he couldn't score any points. Raikkonen on the other hand scored consistently with a poor car. Calling Button a mediocre driver, really? He's probably the smoothest driver in F1 right now.

And of course Vettel has made choices. He's overly ambitious. He's also a sore loser, just look at him when he's bested by his teammate. Doesn't congratulate his teammate or any fellow drivers. I've always liked Vettel but his recent actions have turned me against him.

    • Exciting! It’s amazing how hearing Japanese can naturally enhance the perceived quality of any experience or product.
    • Your other comment in another article says otherwise, namely "Microsoft veteran wants to replace every single line of C/C++ code with Rust and AI".
    • Sued and... exonerated. Oh, they learned a lesson alright. They learned that anyone who uses the word "antiturst" in conjunction with "Microsoft" is an idiot, even if that person is Judge Thomas Penfield Jackson. That judge ruined the image of the US justice system. Microsoft Edge has a 5.14% market share. Also, Windows is no longer the #1 OS. None of this constitutes a monopoly. Google Chrome, however, has 70.25% share. Also, Google's Android is the #1 OS. Now that's closer to a monopoly.
