My Windows 7 install is around 6 months old now, and its startup time (from windows logo first appearance to taskbar showing) is 14 seconds - the same as first day installation. This system has very little tweaking done, and none that improve boot times. I just keep a close eye on startup items and use ccleaner every now and then. Suffice to say, Windows 7 is a vast improvement over XP; which I found to bog down as the months passed.

Impressive results. I'm always on the lookout for great new tweaks, but I'm a little more reluctant to apply them these days. I'm tired of reformatting.

Soluto is an amazing little tool. It really does make a difference!

No tweaking, 28.53 seconds boot according to BootTimer, 27.50 seconds after service tweaking.

24.71 seconds after doing a bit of BIOS tweaking (152MHz CPU OC and 30MHz memory OC).

23.43 seconds after more BIOS tweaking (another 117MHz OC and 10MHz memory OC).

22.55 seconds after a last tweak (another 18MHz CPU and 10MHz memory).

If I have time tomorrow I can dial in my new memory finally and maybe get under a 20 second boot.
