speed back up your Safari

If your Safari Web browser is freezing up on you when loading lots of tabs or just getting slower loading speeds than normal, your "Database.sqlite3" might be corrupted. It has something to do with the tracking of RSS feeds.

All you have to do is go to: [username] > Library > PubSub > Database

move this file out of the folder to the desktop and delete it later:

Database.sqlite3

Quit Safari and restart it and it will create a new "Database.sqlite3" file and your Safari browser should be back to normal and fast!

You can also clean your RSS by clicking "Remove Now" under your the "RSS" tab in Safari's preference.

big thanks to the forum here!

Just did it then, everything working great - RSS, one of the most pointless pieces of crap ever invented that provides nothing to no one other than for the gadget fetishists out there. I wish there was a way to strip off a lot of the features that quite frankly add nothing to my browsing experience.

Just because you don't understand the point of RSS, that doesn't mean they're useless.

Does it make any difference that this, according to the link, was written for Safari 4.01? I've yet to have speed issues, just the annoying IPB bug that reloads the last tab you had opened when you click certain links.

I do understand what it is used for - and it is still a useless feature that shouldn't be rammed down my throat because some knob at Apple thinks it is the bee's knee's to do so.

You sure have a flair for the dramatic. Unfortunately for you Apple didn't design Safari with you in mind alone. However, a five second Google search will give you an answer how to disable RSS in Safari, it supposedly still works with Safari 5:

In Terminal: defaults write com.apple.Safari DebugSyndicationEnabled 0

    • Yup, broke my comp… again. its times like this when I regret AMD. This just never happens on NV.
    • Huh? You're delusional calling the Steam Deck dead. It is so successful that it has sold out multiple times. Even after the price hike this year it sold out again with 24 hours of being back in stock. The demand is real and has not died down even after four years.
