I am trying to create a background for a school district. I have found one I like but cant seem to get the wave to be like the one I found. Would anyone be willing to give it a go? I like the blue color as it is but also will need to change the colors to two others including orange and something else.

Haha, well, since no one bothered to help, I tried....

All I did was take the original, do a content-aware deletion of the "NETWORK ADMINISTRATOR" thing, then smear the wave and gaussian blur / smear the wall to get rid of artifacts.

It's not as sharp as what you posted, but you're welcome to use it if you want. I'm sure someone else could do a better job :p

I've got a 3000x2250 giant one, too.

It's a school, not a gaming centre. It doesn't matter how big the screen is as long as the computers serves the purpose of an educational tool, not entrainment.

Ok, just for using a program or browsing the internet... change your desktop resolution to 1024x768 on your LCD screen, and see what that does to the quality of your web browsing.

Note that:

(a) You're no longer using your native resolution, so everything became blurry and distorted. Readable, Cleartype'd text now became a fuzzy mess!

(b) You have less desktop space for no reason at all, which means your webpage viewing is now cramped into scrollbar hell. This would also negatively affect Microsoft Word, Excel, and other major programs people would use in a school or otherwise. A lot of webpages won't even fit properly with a maximized browser at 1024x768 anymore, without becoming nearly unusable with the scrolling/reading.

Now you tell me, is there ANY reason to use a non-native LCD screen resolution and ruin the usability and crispness of the display?

Not all schools have the funds to buy top of the line monitors with a screen res. of 1920x1080p. So it would come as no surprise if they were still using TFT's which have a native res. of 1024x768, or worse:CRTs.

Excatly. When I did work experince at a university here, I was asked to setup about 50 dell computers with 2 WS monitors. These was for the special needs workers. the regular computer classrooms had 17" dell monitors with resolution of 1024x758. Remember we are talking about a thousnad of those computers. I've even seen some computers with CRTs still in use. They all suit to the task the universtiy asked of students.

I'm not saying to use non-native resolutions. They can use whatever the monitor can support natively. It's just that most educational institions purchase basic computers which ususally has low native resolutions. Because they are not designed to be used as gaming systems, but rather as productivity tools.

    • Remarkably based article from Garter - apparently there IS someone working there that actually understands mainframe systems.
