In Windows XP, when you choose "Turn off computer," the screen switches slowly to black and white, then the turn off box appears. In Windows Codename Whistler, it was done differently, a few hundred squares appeared and transformed the screen into black and white. A few people here must know what I'm talking about... I wanted to know if it was possible to revert back to that in Windows XP.

Please don't give me the usual Neowin trademark "smart-ass" answer like "go back to Whistler" or anything like that :) Thanks in advance!

you should better turn back to whistler :) no, i dont know it exacttly but if you should try using the msgina.dll (is this the right name? i mean the file, where the logoff or shutdown dialog boxes are in, it should be in the somewhere in the system32 folder) from an oldf version and look whats different to the win xp version, and edit the win xp version, so it looks like the other one. of course, dont change the bitmaps or the version number of the file! i hope it works ! :)
