Microsoft: Xbox 360 S The Best Box We've Ever Built

Recommended Posts

While I'm not thrilled with everything MS has done with the 360, most of those "suggestions" are either terrible or counter to the strategy MS is clearly moving on. And as much as I like Blu Ray, I don't ever expect to see a BD drive in an Xbox. You would not be pushing anything forward outside of 1080p/60fps gaming, the rest is mostly fluff and expense.

And I'm ridiculously happy with my 360s, swore I would not give in and get one but very happy I did.

It's an upgrade all right, but what took them so long? This stuff should've been done the first time.

Cause they tried to rush and beat the competition, and you see what happened.

It will be interesting to see what drive they use, optical or w/e in the next xbox. BD? maybe? Or something else unexpected could happen.

They're beating said competition and have sold close to, if not more than, 45million units to date.

Seeing that they feel that BD is not the way to go, they could bring back HD-DVD for game purposes only.

what i said has nothing to do with sales, i meant beat the competition to the market.

Maybe, if the costs are still low enough for that. Dunno what else could be used come 2012 or 2013 as well.

Low enough pffft, HD-DVD tech is dirt cheap now, it would be easy for them to produce it and they would be stupid not to use it considering the ground work has already been done.

Saying this is what they should have done at the start is the same thing as saying we should have had the PS3 slim from the start. Technology evolves, it shrinks, and improves. The PS3 Slim is night and day a better product than the 60gb PS3 on release day (minus some features that Sony dumped). Same goes for the Xbox 360 of 2005, and now the Xbox 360 S.

It would be nice if the slims were released in 2005/2006 instead, but we would have paid more than $400 and $600 for them.

The HD-DVD tech itself is cheap ya, but I mean the fabs needed to punch out HD-DVDs. Are those even around? If they've all been switched over to doing BDs now then there's that extra cost into getting a new line (or a few) built so you can press games.
