I'm scared of them, but at the same time I like them. They're actually really neat. As long as they don't come in the house, I have no problem with them and just leave them alone. If they come in the house though, all bets are off. I'm too afraid of them to try and pick them up and put them out, so I just kill them.

I used to hate them, but that all changed at 15 years old when I got bitten by a radioactive spider while on a school field trip. It changed my whole perspective on life.

 Well if you don't have an unclelet me tell you something - "With great power comes great responsibilty".

I don't really mind them tbh, I have a couple of them in the corners of my bedroom which are pretty good at catching moths. :p Only time I'd ever move a spider is if it's stuck in the bath/sink. I don't know why someone would want to kill one :(

Spiders don't bother me in the least. Not afraid of them, and I'll typically leave them alone. Usually beneficial to leave them be, unless they're poisonous of course.

Unless they're one of those cocky little buggers that like to come down from the ceiling right in front of your face and give you a little surprise, then they probably will get smushed.

What does scare the living bejezus out of me are these little buggers. Puts me into a panic every time I see one.

Neutral. If they don't bite me then I don't bite them.

However, I usually remove them from the house (one way or another) as they don't pay rent.

I like them, I am not scared of them at all and generally do feck all to them unless they are poisonous, of which there are none in England iirc so whenever I do see one I usually just let it climb onto my hand observe it for a while and then show it the way out for the same reason Fred posted :p

Spiders are way cool, Moths however can burn in the deepest depths of animal hell. Passionately hate those things. Wait till you hear one scream :|

I don't mind certain ones that don't look too dangerous, but others I despise. If I don't have to be in the area of it, it will live. If it is in my area, it will die! :p

I believe that is a form of centipede, we had those in the house all the time in SC. They are not harmful but god they are freaky.

EDIT: Here you go: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scutigera_coleoptrata aka House Centipede.

As someone else said, I am not afraid of spiders unless they catch me off guard. I had a small one lower itself about 4 inches in front of my face once which scared the crap out of me, but once I knew it was there I took steps to get rid of it without a problem.

I freaking hate fast spiders though, such as Wolf Spiders in SC, those things run fast as hell (they don't make webs, they hunt their prey) and, for as fast as they move, they are very large (anywhere from 2-4 inches for just their body).

Worst bug I have ever seen though IMO is: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scolopendra_polymorpha

Worst freaking thing ever, and my father kept it as a pet to torture me and my sister! :(

EDIT: Just for reference, the picture above is an adult (I think) which generally grow up to 7-8 inches in length.

Spiders keep to themselves, as do I. My old house I was living in a basement, I let the spiders stay and they helped get rid of any bugs that were in the room, except those pesky centipedes. Midwest basement owners probably know what I mean.

That desert centipede made me cringe at first, but after looking at it carefully, its kinda cool. The segments are translucent so you can see its insides. I don't ever want to see one in person though.

I rather like them, I think they're neat and they prey on other bugs which I do dislike.

I'd kill one if it was a danger to me but we don't have spiders like that in the UK. The big ones (> 2 inch diamter legs) freak me out a bit but I'll just chuck them outside. Generally I leave them be.

Where's the option for "meh"?

I won't let them crawl over me or anything, but they aren't scary. I steer clear of redbacks, and kill them if they are around the house, because they can actually hurt me.

Edit: Also, where is the topion for "leave them be"?

Pretty bias poll towards the poor spiders.

+1

I voted "Like" but I don't really like them :/ But I wouldn't say I hate them.... I just don't really care about them

    • We had no idea as kids how much time and energy it took to be an adult 😅
    • The Trump administration doesn't want you to use OpenAI's GPT-5.6 without its approval by David Uzondu Image via @realDonalTrump (X) As OpenAI prepares the release of its next model, GPT 5.6, the White House has instructed the company to limit the distribution of the software to a small group of government-approved partners instead of the general public, as it has done with previous releases. According to The Information, OpenAI Chief Executive Officer Sam Altman sent an internal memo to staff on Thursday explaining that the federal government will approve access "customer by customer" during an initial preview phase. Altman noted in the communication that this restrictive rollout is "not [their] long-term model" for software deployment, and the company plans to work toward a "more sustainable" distribution method later. CNN said that both OpenAI and the Trump administration view the capabilities of GPT 5.6 on the same level as Anthropic's Mythos and that government officials intend to "collaborate with frontier AI labs to develop shared approaches for addressing the challenges of scaling this technology." The latest restriction comes just weeks after the US Commerce Department decided to restrict Fable, a version of Mythos with extra safety "guardrails" to prevent users from exploiting software vulnerabilities. Not long after the release, though, researchers at Amazon found a way to bypass these restrictions, prompting an aggressive response from federal authorities. The government ordered Anthropic to cut off access for non-US citizens located outside the US, non-US citizens living inside the US, and incredibly, even Anthropic's own foreign-born employees. Anthropic now appears to be building a workaround to resolve this compliance block with an update to its Privacy Policy that introduces a category called "Verification Data" to handle KYC and Digital IDs. This setup could mandate digital identity checks to filter users by nationality, requiring a government-issued ID and facial biometric data. Who knows? Maybe in the future, you would have to scan your US Passport or State ID to prove your citizenship before you are allowed to chat with Fable 5 (or any other model).
    • When Windows 7 was released I created an AutoHotkey script that uses Alt+` as a keyboard shortcut to move a window across monitors. I have been using that script for over 15 years and this is the first time I have come across another app that uses the same shortcut!
    • I called it last year that they wouldn't end support when they said there would. There are too many people still on Windows 10 waiting for something better to upgrade to and 11 ain't it! The recent promises of fixing Windows 11's many problems is nice, but unless they deliver on those promises in a big way then I expect customers will still want to stick with 10.
