What apps do you hate ?

Recommended Posts

quicktime.

i refuse to install it on my pc. even if you get the version not bundled with itunes, when it's update the updater forces you install itunes or not update at all.

i know there's a quicktime lite codec package, but since the only website i go to that use qt is fb and it seems to work without it despite the plug ins missing notification. and i don't care enough about high resolution trailers on the apple site. if i want to se a trailer i can watch it on youtube.

i also dislike adobe reader. it doesn't seem to get much love from adobe in terms of being secure and frequently there seems to be news about some kind of security hole in it. also people tend to be wary of .pdf files. recently i had to install it for a guide on how to install the swg emu, and tbh there was nothing in it that could not have been done in a normal forum post, it seems the guide writer simply chose this method as a barrier to less literate computer uses, and this kind of thinking was rampant on the swg emu forums.

iTunes is excellent on a Mac. But then again, it should be. :shifty:

I personally don't like OpenOffice.org. There is no comparison with Microsoft Office or iWork.

I know you're referring to iPod/iPhone Apps but this is in General.

RealMedia (just showed my age on that one).

yeah that one was freakin terrible.

i came across a website for an artist i liked that use it, and i told the admin he should switch to some other codec for a variety of reason i forget now. he thought realmedia was great and was a good way to promote the artist the site was all about. i facepalmed hard.

Winrar

Just use 7-Zip already! Its free AND better!

Maybe free. but really ****ty shell integration in comparison. and I hate the 7zip format. and the app itself is just not as good. seems to liek to throw random errors and no support various compressed files very well.

and yeah iTunes. and more so QuickTime

iTunes.

Yep me too. The reasons why are because Number one: It crashes or freezes all the time Number Two: It has a very bad codec library and can only play MP3 and AAC, I like my FLAC and WAV files sorry Apple.

Also iPhone/iPod apps I would have to say the e-mail app and music since like I said about iTunes it can only read the MP3 and AAC codecs.

Exactly, In Windows at least, the integration of Winrar is much better. I don't mind most apps but any variation of limewire/frostwire/soulseek etc do my nut in. The programs themselves are fine, it's the sheer amount of viruses they give access to that annoys me. I've lost count of how many family and friends have needed computer help after getting a virus from one of these programs :p

'random errors'? I've never had a problem (bugs/errors) with 7-zip so far, and I've been using it for months

Uh, iTunes and iPods are fine with WAV. FLAC support I'll agree with though, ALAC is a weird answer.

sorry but years trumps months.

whereas over the same and many more years, Winrar is more stable, opens ALL files and extracts ALL files, with better shell integration (No I don't need some annoying GUI for my extraction purposes), and it's faster. and it's not based around a ****ty format where to get to a single txt file in a huge archive it needs to extract the whole archive first.

All and any browser toolbars !

Everything from Google, exept Gmail (but not as main account), Earth and Chrome (but. Chrome not as main browser).

Nero 7,8,9,10 - bloated as hell and useless.

Outlook Express - it destroys your e-mails

Windows Messenger

Everything from Apple

All spyware (containing) apps, including but not limited to Limewire and Bearshare.

On the iPhone (Don't kill me), I partially hate Angry Birds and for one reason only, because the charts don't change anymore because of it... I want to see something NEW at the top of the Paid charts thank you very much.

Otherwise, not much else, save for Quicktime.

    • Sorry to be that guy but, Given Trump won again even after a failed first term it would appear attacking the other side is how to gain Government in America. Voters when it came down to it didn't give a s**t about those Democratic achievements and voted for Trump over an intelligent, qualified mixed race woman. We need to face up to this uncomfortable reality. There are more Americacan voters who support racism and christian bigotry along with defending and supporting pedophilia, adjudicated rapists, multiple time convicted felons etc than those who don't. Btw, that is how the world sees America now. Not that Trump voters care as they attempt to cocoon themselves in a white supremacy bubble.
    • That's not clickbait. Clickbait is headlines like, "You'll never guess what this person looks like now" for example. For goodness sake, take a look around the internet if you think this is clickbait. How do sites survive if people don't click through to articles? How many people in all honesty would have clicked this if it had your suggested headline? You and those upvoting your post won't be happy until the web is a couple of hundred websites all behind a paywall.
