Im actually going out after work to buy a new headset so I can talk. Unfortunately I too am one of those people with limited play time. With work, and TV Shows I like to watch, and my friend...thats a girl... also enjoys sitting down and watching TV. Im hoping to find an even balance of Work, TV, Socializing and gaming sooner than later.

yeah it takes a while to get into voice chat. i find being drunk helps in new vent servers XD but usually in new guilds in mmo's i don't talk much at first until i get used to people a bit more.

I don't drink so getting drunk isn't an option for me. :p

As much as I like this game though, I only play for an hour or two max when I do play, just enough to do 3-4 missions at the most then I'm done for a few hours. Once my friend gets settled in his new place, if he enjoys the game, I will probably play it more often with him mostly, but unless its a single-player game, I just cant bother playing them very long in one sitting anymore. Doesn't help that I've been watching Bleach from the beginning for the past week or so though (already up to Season 6).

hey thats fine. With Fall tv starting back up tonight I will have limited play time myself, but yeah show up when you can to run stuff with people. The more people we have, the more people at different levels there will be to always try and have someone to run with.

Also again can't stress enough, if you guys have a phobia of talking in voice chat, thats fine, we all understand, we aren't asking you to tell us how your day went, are talk dirty in the mic.. All we are saying is, if you are in Mumble, its a TON easier to know who is online and available, and also to at least HEAR the strats for bosses or what to do next.

10x.

i barely pay attention to the chat box in these games.

Yea for sure, Im level 13 (iirc), so Im at the perfect spot for being able to help people as well as being able to progress myself.

Playing wow for 3 years cured me of any fear of voice chat. Vent was a requirement for every guild I was in (I was a raider). Thing is, I find when you start off in voice chats, like if you are nervous only talk when it's small groups of people, get comfortable with those people, then eventually you will be able to join some random channel and be like: "HEY!!! Whattup in here??" It's just like going to a party where you don't know anyone.. make some friends.. and you get comfortable.

Depending on who I'm talking to, 90% of what I say can be interpreted as "dirty" whether it is mean't that way or not :p....I think for me, its just more that I don't like people hearing my voice (I don't like talking on the phone either)....despite someone in TF2 telling me "Yo, whoever just talked, my brother thinks you have an awesome voice" when I was the only person talking before him.

Is your voice, by any chance, similar to Don LaFontain's or Morgan Freeman's? Lol

I'm level 14 and I'm on the Revenge battle now. Still haven't gotten all Battle Points for couple battles before Revenge, so I'll more than likely be on tonight finishing up the previous BP achievements as well as progressing to the second boat! How's the second boat anyway? Is the new envioronment fun?

@treemonster:

Sadly My laptop would be wireless, but If it really is to laggy to play I can simply go upstairs and connect it directly. As for spec wise, I believe it is Capable. Its a Toshiba P305D S8828 Let me just post the specs below and if anyone can say it is that would be awesome. I honestly do not know to much about PC sooo...Ya

# 2.0 GHz AMD Turion X2 Dual-Core RM-70 Processor

# 4096 MB PC5300 DDR2 SDRAM, 200 GB (5400 RPM) Hard Drive (SATA), ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3470 with 256 MB DDR

# DVD SuperMulti Drive with Labelflash, Atheros 802.11b/g wireless-LAN

# Windows Vista Home Premium

Ya i just kind of copied and posted the specs most of what is above me is gibberish.

Hmm.. You might need to turn the settings to low to be able to play it smoothly, but I hope it's playable and enjoyable for ya wink.gif

Haha, Ya Iv never joined a Voice chat before either but I don't have any problems talking to random strangers in real life so I don't think I'll have to much of a problem talking to a Mic. :laugh:

Thanks for the reply Bei337 about the Specs, I pray your right and that I can play it. I'd...be pretty damn depressed if I can't, Lol.

But once I get it back from the repair place I'll def set up Mumble. There is a Mic built into the Laptop so Hopefully that will work just fine till I go and buy a headset too use in the future.

So I was just wondering which character you all used. If you used the guy with the 2 Swords, or if you used the girl with the Sword and Shield

most of us are using the girl. i think only one or two people are using the guy with two swords. but really w/e you prefer. they're both really good.

I really don't understand the appeal with this game. It seemed like a bad Guild Wars, and the graphics are kinda outdated for a brand new "MMO-ish" game.

Anyone else still getting the ridiculous party lag?

If you have played the game and still didn't really like it I'm sorry to hear that. Just like every other Mmo, this one isn't for everyone. Hopefully you will find another Mmo out there that suits your tastes better.

However I don't see how the Graphics seem outdated. Mind you I have never played it yet because of my Laptop but I have seen a lot of gameplay videos. For a Free Mmo, I think the graphics look like it's going to be a new step into the new generation for Mmo's, Kind of like Blade & Soul.

The instance system works much like GW, but its much less open-ended than most MMOs, thats one of the things I don't like about it, is there is town, then there is missions, no in between or anything. As for the graphics, its built on the Source engine, graphics could be better but they are not bad at all IMO.

The lag depends on the party leader mostly, I have been in parties where everyone stopped moving for 20 seconds every 10 seconds or so, and I have been in parties where there isn't even a spec of lag. If you are getting ridiculous party lag, its either your connection, or the other peoples connection that suck.

I have been meaning to try the girl, I may do that when I get home, I have been playing Lann since the beginning and have been having lots of fun. His nimble dash skill allows you to dodge twice in a row (you can dodge a second time while moving during your first dodge) which makes it super easy to get distance between you and bosses who have AOE attacks before he can hit you. His AOE capability also seems very nice, I can attack one target 4 times, then do his smash attack and kill my target, plus 3-4 others assuming they are in front of me.

Yeah :( I really wanted to like it, but it just seemed... I don't know, already done? Nothing felt new. It felt like a newer WoW to me lol... Yet it looks nothing like it...

@Treemonster:

Alright, I was actually planning to use the Girl too because I played Mabinogi for a few years and always used a sword and shield.

I just figured I'd ask because I was thinking that maybe I'll just pick the character that is in the biggest demand.

Yeah :( I really wanted to like it, but it just seemed... I don't know, already done? Nothing felt new. It felt like a newer WoW to me lol... Yet it looks nothing like it...

:( Well Like I said I haven't had a chance to play it yet :pinch: So i honestly don't have an opinion about the game. I'm just At the moment very excited for it.

Though I didn't realize there was no traveling. To me that's a Minus because Iv always loved exploring the environment of a Game. But who knows, Things could change in the Future considering how it's only in the 2nd Beta.

But we are seeing what the main features of Vindictus. So If someone didn't like it chances are they won't like it in the future either.

Hopefully I won't run into the same problem as Joseph B did. Though Iv never played Guild wars and I never got into WoW because everyone I knew had like 3 lvl 80 characters and so I couldn't play with them.

I get very board of a game very quickly without a solid group of people to play it with, Lol. Partly why I can't wait to get my laptop back, Is because this Forum. Neowin has introduced me too a bunch of very helpful people who have treated me very nicely. So I can't wait to get to know you all better in Vindictus/Mumble and I hope we all have a great time killing them giant overgrown polar bears, Lol. :D

what'ch you takin bout, that wasn't me that was treemonster lol

I'm not even old enough to drink yet :p

I know I was bringing that up after the other night of us laughing about him getting more drunk and talking more

BRB grabbing another beer !! LOL

lolzi bought a few more beers for tonight but not enough for the whole night.

good chance i'll be out before i actually log in LOL!

but yeah that's pretty much all i said the first night in mumble.

cool side story here, my friends from a different off topic forum used to hang out in vent and drink, and one night i was in a different vent and apparently the only thing i said all night was BRB BEER! lolz.

i'm not sure how you can say this game is like wow. it's more like a single player console hack and slash game set in china or something(ie dynasty warriors).in fact i almost bought a controller for it the other day at walmart.

the gfx are average for a source engine/dx9 game. not super shiny or anything but pretty decent. definitely better than most f2p games. in old school terms i wouldn't really call it an mmo, but games like STo have redfined what i consider an mmo these days. it's bsically on the same level as gw.

@TreeMonster:

Gah, Lol, Everytime I go to type in your name I keep typing in TreeMaster...So if one of these takes I forget to correct myself I'm sorry, Lol. :pinch:

But I was just wondering, when you said STO did you mean Star Trek Online? Or Star Wars the Old republic?

    • A 13 billion year old secret about our Universe's origin was revealed by Sayan Sen Image by Pascal Küffer via Pexels Researchers at the Max-Planck-Institut für Kernphysik (MPIK) in Heidelberg had recreated a key chemical reaction from the early universe, producing results that could change scientists' understanding of how the first stars formed. The study focused on the helium hydride ion (HeH⁺), which is widely regarded as the first molecule to form in the universe. Scientists believe HeH⁺ appeared around 380,000 years after the Big Bang, when the universe had cooled enough for electrons and atomic nuclei to combine into neutral atoms in a period known as recombination. This marked the beginning of chemistry in the cosmos. Immediately after the Big Bang about 13.8 billion years ago, the universe was extremely hot and dense. As it expanded and cooled, hydrogen and helium became the dominant elements. Once neutral helium atoms formed, they could react with ionised hydrogen nuclei, or protons, to create helium hydride ions. Although simple in structure, HeH⁺ played an important role in the young universe. It was the first step in a chain of reactions that eventually produced molecular hydrogen (H₂), a molecule made up of two hydrogen atoms and now the most abundant molecule in the universe. Molecular hydrogen later became a key ingredient in the formation of the first stars. At the time, the universe had entered a phase often called the cosmological "dark age." Matter had become transparent to light following recombination, but there were still no stars or galaxies producing visible light. Several hundred million years would pass before the first stars appeared. For those first stars to form, large clouds of gas had to collapse under their own gravity. To do that, the gas needed to cool by releasing energy. While hydrogen atoms can help with this process at high temperatures, they become less effective below about 10,000 degrees Celsius. Molecules can continue the cooling process by releasing energy through rotational and vibrational motions. Scientists have long considered HeH⁺ a potentially important coolant because of its comparatively large dipole moment, a property that describes how electric charge is distributed within a molecule and allows it to release energy efficiently. The amount of helium hydride present in the early universe may therefore have influenced how easily the first stars could form. At the same time, HeH⁺ was constantly being destroyed. Under primordial conditions, its main destruction mechanisms were recombination with free electrons and chemical reactions with hydrogen atoms. These reactions ultimately helped produce molecular hydrogen, linking the formation and destruction of HeH⁺ to the chemistry that shaped the early universe. For many years, theoretical studies suggested that reactions between HeH⁺ and hydrogen atoms would become much slower at low temperatures. Scientists believed there was an energy barrier along the reaction pathway that reduced the chances of the reaction taking place in the cold conditions of the early universe. The new study suggests otherwise. To investigate the process, researchers recreated a closely related reaction using deuterium, a naturally occurring isotope of hydrogen that contains one proton and one neutron in its nucleus. When HeH⁺ collides with deuterium, it forms an HD⁺ ion and a neutral helium atom. This allows scientists to study the reaction in a controlled way while closely mimicking the behaviour of the original reaction involving hydrogen. The experiments were carried out at the Cryogenic Storage Ring (CSR) at MPIK, a specialised facility designed to recreate conditions similar to those found in space. Researchers stored HeH⁺ ions in the 35-metre storage ring for up to 60 seconds at temperatures just a few kelvins above absolute zero and merged them with a beam of neutral deuterium atoms. By adjusting the speeds of the two particle beams, the team measured how the reaction rate changed with collision energy, which is directly related to temperature. The researchers found that the reaction rate remains almost constant as temperatures decrease. In other words, the reaction does not slow down at low temperatures as earlier models predicted. “Previous theories predicted a significant decrease in the reaction probability at low temperatures, but we were unable to verify this in either the experiment or new theoretical calculations by our colleagues,” explained Dr Holger Kreckel of MPIK. “The reactions of HeH⁺ with neutral hydrogen and deuterium therefore appear to have been far more important for chemistry in the early universe than previously assumed,” he continued. According to the researchers, the reaction appears to be barrierless, meaning there is no energy obstacle preventing it from taking place efficiently even at very low temperatures. The findings support recent theoretical work led by physicist Yohann Scribano, whose group identified an error in a widely used potential energy surface, a mathematical model used to describe how the energy of a system changes during a chemical reaction. The error appears to have caused previous studies to significantly underestimate reaction rates under primordial conditions. The new calculations closely match the experimental results. Together, they suggest that helium chemistry in the early universe may need to be re-evaluated. Because molecules such as HeH⁺ and molecular hydrogen played an important role in cooling primordial gas clouds, the findings could help scientists build more accurate models of how the first stars formed. By showing that helium hydride was likely destroyed more efficiently than previously thought, the study offers new insight into the chemical processes that shaped the universe during its earliest stages and helped set the conditions for the emergence of the first stars. • "What an interesting smell you've discovered"
    • It could EASILY be 70 for the base game BUT + lots of FOMO to make it up to 100-120, like a few days Early Access, online money, pre-order bonus cars, weapons, missions, clothing, avatars or profile stuff, etc... And still WAY TOO MANY people would buy those and make Rockstar insane money.
