iPod keeps on power cycling when plugged in

Recommended Posts

Hey all -

I just encountered this problem the other day, and it's still an issue.

When I have my iPod plugged in, it continues to power cycle. The Apple logo shows up, then it makes a quiet beeping noise, and it goes away (like it was unplugged, the logo takes a little while to disappear). it continues to do this for as long as it's plugged in.

I am completely out of ideas as to what I could do to fix this. I have tried all the typical 'reset' remedies out there and nothing at all works. My battery is basically dead and I don't think it's charging at all. I've had the iPod for about a year at this point, and it was working fine until this bug...any help is greatly appreciated.

6th Gen iPod Classic 120GB.

sounds iBroke. You'll have to get it iFixed.

off the top of my head, ensure no pins are shorted on the connector end. Aside from that - one could be broken internally.

Your battery could also be shot, my macbook battery just 'died' one day. no juice when it was holding 5 hr charge 2 days before.

charge circuit gone, I seen iPhone 3GS with this happen when battery works but phone refuses to charge it (no reboot loop)

I also seen a 2G iPhone with this problem that was taken for a small bath. the phone would continually reboot. even trickling the battery to full juice again didnt' boot the phone.

If you are out of ideas, and in US. try ubreakifix.com, based out of florida.

I am not promoting them - but they do iPhone repairs which a buddy had serviced. if they can't repair they will offer to buy from you appearently.

iDontWantToHearThat.

Pins look fine, and I don't think one of them internally would be screwed up - unless it somehow happened while I was sleeping. Looks like I need a trip to the Apple Store.

As for the battery, would something like this happen instantly? It was fine one day - great battery life, I use it every day for 5 hours or so, and normally charge it once a week...then all of a sudden, dead.

Hold the menu+center Buttion this resets device, when its restarting hold Play+center when powering the Ipod. This will force it into DiskMode. Then plug it in. If it work Itunes may pop u a message telling you to format your Ipod. witch is good news.. Means its not iBricked, If you plug it in on when its in diskMode and it still restarts try another Ipod USB Cord. If that still fails then yes it deffenly Bricked

Tried this. No dice - not enough power to get it on to hold the menu+center button down, and when it's plugged in (and again I don't think it's charging) doing this only slightly delays the power cycle process. It'll restart it, and the power cycling continues.

Sounds like it might be bricked.

When its power on when its plug in u have to hold Play+Center to force Disk MOde. It only sounds like u are onyl tryign to restart the device..

Again, no dice. Keeps on power cycling.

well sounds like a Ibrick with a dead batter.. lack of batt well keep restarting the device. I not sure how offten u charger yours and when you got your 6th Gen but they say the Batt uselly only last between 300-500 charges before its toast...

but keeping it plug in should by pas the batt so ya u got me. I take it to Apple store if you wish to pay for the repairs .

also it could be a currupted Firmware. witch would explain the Restarting too? how to fix that is beyound me if the diskmode is not working for you ether.

Charge once a week or so, have had it about a year and a half.

well for the math part 52 weeks in a year ad lets say 2 years max at once a week is 104charges.. batt should be fine...

so ether firmware is currpeted or the built in HDD gave out.. witch is possible due to the fact the drive is nota SSD and dose have platers and a reading pin on it.

    • Remarkably based article from Garter - apparently there IS someone working there that actually understands mainframe systems.
    • Calling it TDS doesn’t answer the question: why did this site skip prior UFC games but review this one, at this exact political moment?
    • Its the timing of its release, mixed with the timing of the review mixed with the timing of the event, when this site never reviewed previous iterations of this game that I could find.
    • Instagram just got "a long-requested feature" by Hamid Ganji Instagram has finally added a new feature that has been "long-requested" and it allows users to write an individual caption for each image or video in a carousel. The feature will start rolling out this week, and it’ll be available to all users. Previously, Instagram only allowed a single caption for all regular posts and carousels. This made it harder for content creators to describe every scene in a carousel and often forced them to write longer captions. However, with this new feature, every slide in a carousel can have its own caption, which can be viewed by swiping left or right. To use the feature, when writing a caption for your post, select “Multiple captions” from the dropdown menu in the caption area. You can then write unique captions for each slide. By swiping through the carousel and selecting individual slides, a dedicated space for writing captions will appear. Instagram says the feature will help audiences get the right context at the right moment. The ability to assign a unique caption to each slide in a carousel could be particularly useful for content creators and brands on the platform. Instagram says the feature will begin rolling out this week. The new feature appears to have been well received by Instagram users, many of whom have been requesting it for a long time. However, users are now asking for additional features, such as the ability to add new slides to a carousel after it has been published. Instagram has been introducing several useful features lately, but users who want access to additional tools and perks can subscribe to the platform’s Instagram Plus offering. Priced at $3.99 per month, Instagram Plus includes exclusive features such as 48-hour Stories, more detailed post analytics, and the ability to tailor posts or Stories to specific audiences. The subscription includes 11 new features in total.
