Suda51 concerned by PlayStation Move

Recommended Posts

The way PlayStation Move is sold - separately rather than in pairs - is problematic for developers, Grasshopper Manufacture CEO Goichi Suda has complained.

"I'm worried about the style of release of it and concerned about how it will be sold," he revealed in an interview with CVG. "I've heard it's going to be sold separately but you can actually use it in a set at once. Depending on how it is sold, as a developer, you have to change how the game should be made, so I'm concerned about that.

"So we have to think about the possibility where the user has one controller. It's limiting for us when it comes to game development so I guess it will be important to make games that can only be played with a single controller.".

Makes sense, and never really thought of it that way to be honest.

I saw this is a problem to start. They should either include 2 motion controllers, or at least 1 motion and 1 navigation. But just doing everything in a individual pack is horrible. I look at 1 controller and see $40, and go,damn it will cost me $80 for 2, and I see that as more work. Where as if I saw 2 in a bundle for $80, same price, but I'm thinking, that's all I need for it to work, not bad.

yeah, but then sony couldn't point out how "expensive" kinect is :p

Well, Sony needs to sell it first ;) :D

Check Out The Line At This PlayStation Move Midnight Launch

Just before midnight at my local GameStop, one eager Move purchaser stood in line, stepping away to snap this photograph before continuing his devoted vigil.

Ya, but they shouldn't focus on that, and instead focus on what Move has to offer, as being basically the best of both worlds, or it would be if they had a better camera sensor... maybe they will update it soon.

Man, all gamestops look the same lol.

** I still don't see how Kinetic is going to work on games that require you to move around. Will you have to turn and run a bit... Have to see it implemented in games that require you to do more than just stand, wave, and jump :p

That coincides with all their announcements about them not expecting it to sell very well on launch, all that BS - Such face saving cop-out to give them an excuse when the product flatlines on launch.

why waste advertising on a failing product though :p

on that note, I just saw a tv add for move here.

you use a controller.

I'm pretty sure it won't flop on launch day sales, with it not being a game many people I suspect will have either preordered from the internet or will just pick on up on the day. I mean the launch title line up isn't strong so it's no surprise.

As for the price thing, even buying 2 move controllers is massively cheaper than ?130. For me it was a no brainer, and after watching the various videos from the gaming conferences it was pretty clear that kinect was struggling to get any decent titles for launch, none of them looked good at all. I just don't get the whole playing a driving game for example with nothing in your hands, or any accelerate/brake pedals/buttons.... enough said, this isn't the kinect forum so I'll stop now.

Back on topic, I agree with the OP quote. Sony should have included 1 move controller and 1 navi controller.

I really hope it is not a flop

But

when I was deciding whther to buy this or kinect I was thinking,

ok with me and my wife I will require 2 full controllers (2 move + 2 navi) and an eyetoy, (2*50+2*30+40 = $200)

so why not I go with kinect which both of us can play and is surely a better gimmick than move in any case :D

but yea I do think there has been little to no publicity for Move except word of mouth

Midnight launches (regardless of console) are such a joke anymore. There's not need to stand in line like a lifeless fool when services such as Amazon offer release date delivery.

More FUD for the toilet.

Yeah you're right. Midnight launches are completely dead.

Dude... you just got SERVED!

I've always enjoyed camping out for a midnight launch, or even black friday events for that....

But, I would see NO reason to camp out for the PS Movie, or MS Kinect.

That being said, it is odd they are not offering a 'family pack' that includes everything you need. But I suppose that would be pricey.

Wandered in to Asda (Walmart UK) and they had a display stand for Move but no games or controlers on display. Went to checkout, they had them there, so I bought the starter kit. Also wanted the navigation controller and "No, you can buy another move controller? I don't know what you are talking about"...

    • Alien Isolation 2 will bring a new protagonist and setting, watch the reveal trailer here by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Only a few weeks ago, Sega and Creative Assembly dropped a teaser for a new Alien Isolation. Today at Summer Game Fest, Alien: Isolation 2 was officially announced with a new trailer while also confirming a whole lot of information about the setting of this survival horror project. Check out the reveal trailer above. Leaving behind the Sevastopol space station, the sequel will take players to a remote colony world. With a Xenomorph (or more) on the loose, players will be navigating both the surface of the weather-ravaged planet as well as "the claustrophobic confines of the Weyland-Yutani outpost of Kurosaki Station." Interestingly, Creative Assembly is leaving behind Amanda Ripley, the daughter of Alien's Ellen Ripley, as the protagonist too. While it hasn't confirmed a name yet, players will be taking the role of a new character for this new adventure. The setting is also being described as a new hunting ground for the Alien. This will have players improvising and developing new tools to aid in their survival and escape, all to avoid "cinema’s deadliest killer." "It has been over a decade since we created the original Alien: Isolation and I am so excited to show everyone the first glimpse of the sequel," says Al Hope, Creative Director at Creative Assembly. "Our dedicated Survival team at Creative Assembly has been working hard to create a new, evolved Isolation experience continuing the legacy of the Alien franchise, making the eponymous killer smarter, the environment harsher and the chance of survival slimmer." Promising the same deadly tension from the original from over a decade ago, Alien: Isolation 2 is in development for PC, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PlayStation 5. A release date has not been announced yet.

    • Hello, From looking at the screen shots in your motherboard's manual at https://endownload.colorful.cn/EnDownload/MotherBroard/2022/Intel 600/Manual/Intel 600 Series BIOS English/Intel 600 Series BIOS User Guide.pdf, you go to the ADVANCED option at the top of the BIOS (UEFI) menu, then select SECURITY in the list of options on the left.  From there  you can enable and set the Secure Boot mode.
