Strange Error Messages in XP

Recommended Posts

Recently I've noticed an increased number or error messages crashing IE. some look like this and some say 'IEXPLORE.EXE - Application Error : The instruction at "0x1a40740d" referenced memory at "0x635e51b8". The memory could not be "read".'

Any ideas other than format? i got the latest nav 2k2 definitions, run adaware and made sure there are no suspicious startup items in msconfig

PS: I have xp sp1 with all the hotfixes and nothing beta except WM5

What did you recently install and then started getting these errors?

If you remember, uninstall the application and reinstall.

Or

I read a post somewhere that says do this to fix it...not sure if it works for everyone: Go to Control Panel then System, in the system properties, click on the performance tab, click on Virtual Memory, click on : let me specify my own virtual memory settings, then click the " disable virtual memory (not recommanded). It is not recommanded but that's what you must do. You must restart your computer and do the same process but this time re-activate the virtual memory settings to its original position and re-boot once again.

Tables crashing IE

A Microsoft patch (810847) released on February 16th, 2003, introduced several errors in IE.

810847 cannot be uninstalled, but can be overwritten by re-installing sp1 for Internet Explorer.

Problems may also be resolved by re-registering triedit.dll with 810847 installed. See http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...kb;EN-US;246490
