I'm going to give this one to Belfort. He still has the fists of fury he was sporting back in the early 2000s, mentally he's in a better place and physically he's definitely excelling with his new weight.

Don't you keep up with the news? The main event is now Marquardt vs. Okami. Belfort got the chance of a lifetime and it's moving up to face Silva for the title.

yeah it sounds like a filler ppv

I just saw it is actually free in the US, happened to see a best of UFC while going through the channels, and it had a countdown to the fights tonight that said "Free from Germany." So just thought I would post that for anyone in the US who might not have known, this is indeed free on Spike tonight.

MAIN CARD

* Yushin Okami def. Nate Marquardt via unanimous decision (29-28, 30-27, 29-28)

* Dennis Siver def. Andre Winner via submission (rear-naked choke) - Round 1, 3:37

* Amir Sadollah def. Peter Sobotta via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)

* Krzysztof Soszynski def. Goran Reljic by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)

* Duane Ludwig vs. Nick Osipczak via split decision (28-29, 29-28, 29-28)

PRELIMINARY CARD

* Vladimir Matyushenko def. Alexandre "Cacareco" Ferreira via TKO (strikes) - Round 1, 2:20

* Pascal Krauss def. Mark Scanlon via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)

* Kyle Noke def. Rob Kimmons via submission (rear-naked choke) - Round 2, 1:33

* Karlos Vemola def. Seth Petruzelli via TKO (strikes) - Round 1, 3:46

* Carlos Eduardo Rocha def. Kris McCray via submission (kneebar) - Round 1, 2:21

Just watched it. My comments in bold.

* Yushin Okami def. Nate Marquardt via unanimous decision (29-28, 30-27, 29-28) I get the 29-28 cards but 30-27? What? They were conservative since a title shot was on the line but seriously? Nate spent the 3rd round just taking it and Okami lacked any sense of urgency in finishing the fight. And that sucks because he couldn't have known that someone was scoring it 30-27 for him. Lots of moments where they just looked at each other for 10 seconds... christ. They both put on a bad performance and Dana should renegue on the title shot promise because if that's the best his striking can do (not being able to put a damaged and tired Nate away) he has no chance at all against Silva or Belfort, the best 2 strikers in the division.

* Dennis Siver def. Andre Winner via submission (rear-naked choke) - Round 1, 3:37 Great fight. Nothing bad to say here. Siver is best known for being a striker but pulled off an amazing submission.

* Amir Sadollah def. Peter Sobotta via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) Sadollah put on a Muay Thai clinic. A good fight. Now if Sadollah could develop some killers instinct and finish fights using his striking, it would be great.

* Krzysztof Soszynski def. Goran Reljic by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) It's nice to see that the judges in Germany don't suffer from takedown-induced-retardation and scored the fight correctly despite Soszynski being taken down in the 1st and 2nd round. He got back up quickly and stiffled Goran's offensive. Albeit ending in a decision, it was a good fight.

* Duane Ludwig vs. Nick Osipczak via split decision (28-29, 29-28, 29-28) I propose that all UFC events in the future are judged by german judges. The scores were spot on and Duane deserved the W. Shame he couldn't put Osipczak away in the 3rd because he was totally gone. At least he tried, not like Okami...

PRELIMINARY CARD

* Vladimir Matyushenko def. Alexandre "Cacareco" Ferreira via TKO (strikes) - Round 1, 2:20 Ferreira was flashy in his takedowns but guess what, they failed. Matyushenko went all Jon Jones on him. Bam! TKO.

* Pascal Krauss def. Mark Scanlon via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) Didn't air. No comment.

* Kyle Noke def. Rob Kimmons via submission (rear-naked choke) - Round 2, 1:33 Didn't air. No comment.

* Karlos Vemola def. Seth Petruzelli via TKO (strikes) - Round 1, 3:46 Vemola is a BEAST. He handled Seth like a ragdoll and Seth is a big guy for 205. Vemola started in the UFC at HW but the cut to LHW didn't seem to influence his strenght at all. He's HUGE. I want to see how he fares against better competition.

* Carlos Eduardo Rocha def. Kris McCray via submission (kneebar) - Round 1, 2:21 Kris McCray again showing the holes in his defense. He's 0-2. If he doesn't win the next one, he's probably gone.

Not the worst card I've seen this year. Some good fights, some medium fights. Now let's see how this title scene develops.

    • TO be clear I am not running linux today, however I keep thinking about it. And I want to make sure there are minimal obstacles if I decide to make that switch in the coming months.
    • Yes, I actually glossed over the Linux part from the OP. You could always go for a 9070 XT and if you really want to play Ray Traced games in the future, GeForce Now is pretty damn good on Linux https://www.neowin.net/news/nvidias-native-geforce-now-app-for-linux-bridges-the-gaming-gap-hands-on/
    • One reason it might be running hotter is dust build up within the cooling or perhaps the paste has dried out. You could always try repasting your old GPU and cleaning the cooler. Your experience in Linux will be much better with an AMD GPU; the performance in gaming is much closer to Windows than nVidia would be. I personally think on Windows, AMD drivers are junk.
    • I reviewed it back in March, but I didn't have a 5070 at the time https://www.neowin.net/reviews/amd-rx-9070-review-vs-rtx-5070-4070-and-rx-9070-xt-7800-xt--just-good-enough/ When I reviewed the 9070 I did have a 5070 to compare it against, so the scores are there for the 9070 XT. it outperforms the 5070 in raster, and is barely neck and neck in Ray Tracing. So it's better than a 5070 in everything but Ray Tracing where it is neck and neck, or just under. To be honest, the uplift from 3080 when it was new to the 9070 XT is not as great a step up. If you can find a used 4080 Super for around the same money, you would probably be better off, but if you only want to buy new then the 16GB 9070 XT is the best value for money in its category.
