Batman 3 "The Dark Knight Rises"

you must be a nolan fanatic... thor didn't suck at all, either did captain.

It's down to opinions, but he is correct, the quality of the marvel films are not the same as the latest Batman films. The latest Batman films go much deeper where has the current marvel ones are more comical and less serious. It's all down to taste. I like both the Batman films and the Marvel films, but comparing them both, Batman is at higher quality.

^This

Very true. They could've done the same with Wolverine, going all dark and deep like they've done with Batman. So in that case, it also depends on what director/writer is at work for said movie.

I think it boils down to the Marvel films are vehicles for selling toys, promotions, tie-ins, etc. Heck the last 2 films (Thor + CapAmerica) were nothing more than pre-story for the upcoming Avengers - I felt they were poorly written and just too "obvious".

Apples and oranges.

Much of Marvel and even most of DC are metahumans - superpowered humanoids, alien or otherwise, whose stories are never going to be as grounded in "reality" or as serious as the stories about Batman, Hawkeye, Green Arrow etc. who are not superpowered.

Hell, Batman is just a modern high tech version of The Scarlet Pimpernel or Zorro - masked but very human avengers who date back to 1905 and 1919 repectively.

Thor had the absolute best "Superhero Moment" I've seen since I was

a kid. Growing up, every cartoon had "the moment" when the superhero

actually turned into the superhero: whether it was the lions coming together

to make Voltron, or Captain Marvel yelling, "Shazam!", etc. I haven't seen

anything that cool for a long, long time... so when Thor was lying in the

street about to die, and the hammer flared to life, and Thor started

changing... well, that was just awesome.

Warner is planning on showing a 6 minute prologue for The Dark Knight Rises with the early IMAX showing of Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol on December 16.

Apparently only on actual 70mm IMAX, not the stupid digital IMAX that theaters have been installing lately. There's only one true 70mm IMAX theater in my state, luckily it's not too far away.

There's also a report that in addition to the prologue being played before 70mm IMAX showings of "Mission Impossible" on December 16, that they will play a new trailer before the new "Sherlock Holmes" which is also getting released on December 16. I can't wait for December 16!

How do I find out about where the cameras are?

The other thing about Batman is that his villains are just as if not more iconic than he is. Only really Superman and to a lesser extent Spiderman come close, at least in pop culture.

"It's really all about finishing Batman and Bruce Wayne's story. We left him in a very precarious place. Perhaps surprisingly for some people, our story picks up quite a bit later, eight years after The Dark Knight. So he's an older Bruce Wayne; he's not in a great state.

Finally confirmed....

TDKR takes place 8 years after TDK, and the prequel is to fill in the gaps.

Warner Bros. Pictures? ?The Dark Knight Rises? ? the epic conclusion to filmmaker Christopher Nolan?s Batman trilogy ? is one of the most anticipated films of 2012, but moviegoers won?t have to wait until next year to see the six-minute opening sequence of the film. The film?s prologue will be unveiled exclusively in select 70mm IMAX? theatres worldwide. The announcement was made today by Dan Fellman, President of Domestic Distribution, and Veronika Kwan-Rubinek, President of International Distribution, Warner Bros. Pictures.

The Prologue will be released in North America on December 16, and in the UK on December 21, 2011. Additional international dates vary by territory and will be announced soon.

In making the 2008 blockbuster ?The Dark Knight,? Nolan was the first to use IMAX? cameras in a major motion picture release, and, as now, audiences were given an advance look at that film?s prologue months prior to the Summer 2008 opening. Nolan employed the extremely high-resolution cameras even more extensively on ?The Dark Knight Rises??including the film?s prologue?to achieve unprecedented crispness and clarity and a truly immersive experience for the moviegoers.

Christopher Nolan stated, ?Our experience on ?The Dark Knight? shooting and projecting IMAX 15 perf 65mm/70mm film was inspiring. The immersive quality of the image goes beyond any other filmmaking tool available, and in revisiting Gotham, we were determined to shoot even more of the movie in this unique format. Giving the fans an early look at an IMAX sequence is a great way to draw attention to what I believe will be an incredible way to experience our story when it comes out next summer.?

I heard it was 7

Christopher Nolan said it was 8yrs in an interview. And it was confirmed like almost 2 weeks ago in SOOPRcow's post right above DocM's post, but it was hidden by spoiler tags (not really much of a spoiler, but I guess it could be if someone didn't want to know anything about the movie, then again, if that was the case why would they be reading this thread anyway lol.)

Must've misread it, then
