KERNEL32.dll Problem

Try to start up VLC (video player) and get no further than this message:

vlc.exe ? Entry Point Not Found

The procedure entry point CreateTimerQueueTimer could not be located in the dynamic link KERNEL32.dll

How do I cure this? OS is NT4.

Are you sure that?s the problem? VLC has been working fine on this NT4 PC for years. I believe I did recently download the latest codecs for VLC, do you think at the same time it upgraded VLC to a later version, that?s not NT4 compatible, compared to our previously installed version, that was?

I can?t discover what edition this VLC is. When I click on Properties there?s no mention of version.

Okay, so looking to install another video player. Found this list:

Couldn?t find whether Media Player Classic was NT4 compatible or not, but tried it anyway. Got some failure notice when trying to install, that I didn?t make a note of. Then found another player, GOM, that is NT compatible, but got the following message when trying to install:

Cannot proceed the installation because Dll Regiltration failed.

It did carry on with the install, only to get the following message when trying to open it:

GOM.exe ? Entry Point Not Found

The procedure entry point CreateToolhelp32Snapshot could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNAL32.dll.

Sounds like the same failure notice as the VLC player

Why are you running NT4 by the way?

NT4 is not meant for multimedia type stuff. it is meant for server type stuff and thats why your having problems.unless your running some kind of server thingy i would replace NT4 with something that will handle your vlc like Windows XP/Windows7/No Windows Vista.

The PC has worked flawlessly with video/audio for 10 years, with both MS and VLC players, so I?m doubting that?s the problem.

then may i ask what versions of those video/audio players are you using? if you are running the newest then explain how you got it working then? like i said NT4 is not for multimedia unless you somehow hacked it heavily so it could as Server 2003 and i believe 2008 can be hacked into being a workstation but it would take alot of effort.
