Enable Confirm Delete for External Hard Drive

Recommended Posts

For some reason it doesn't ask me to confirm the delete when I delete stuff from my external hard drive.. I already checked the Recycling Bin properties and it is enabled in there. But it still doesn't confirm with me. This didn't happen when I still had XP, so I'm pretty sure it has something to do with Windows 7. Anybody know why?

Thanks.

So your saying you get asked if on internal drives? But not external - each drive will have its own recycle bin, and this can be set per drive.

When you checked the setting did you click onto that drive to see its settings.

Yup, I checked each drive and made sure that box was checked. Actually, I don't know if it's an internal or external thing. But I have 2 internal and 1 external, and only the external hard drive is having this problem.

Try flipping the "removable" switch from the drive using this utility: http://www.911cd.net/forums//index.php?showtopic=21572 and see if the drive appears in Recycle Bin. It doesn't work for all drives though.

Actually I don't think it has anything to do with internal or external anymore.. because I just deleted something from my secondary internal SATA hard drive and the same thing is happening.

BUT I'm noticing a pattern here. In Windows 7 there's a colored bar that shows how full your hard drive is. If it's Green then the confirmation will pop up, BUT if it's Red, which means it's almost full, then there is no confirmation. It just goes straight to the Recycling Bin. Really weird... anybody know what's happening here??

Thanks
