Moss to come back to Minnesota?

Recommended Posts

The Vikings, Moss' first NFL team, are discussing a trade with the New England Patriots for the wide receiver, NFL Network insider Jason La Canfora confirmed through league sources.

A league source told NFL Network insider Michael Lombardi that the Patriots haven't given Moss' agent, Joel Segal, permission to talk to the Vikings or any team about a new contract.

A trade is still possible without a contract extension, but it also could complicate matters. Moss wouldn't balk at a move to the Vikings, La Canfora reported, but the seven-time Pro Bowl receiver is very interested in securing a contract more in line with the $9 million to $10 million per season that top wideouts now earn in the NFL.

Moss, who's in the final year of his current deal, lashed out after the Patriots' season-opening victory over the Cincinnati Bengals, saying he felt unappreciated in New England because he hadn't received a long-term contract. Moss also said waiting until after the season to do a deal would be "a smack in my face."

"This is the last year of my contract. Nothing has been discussed. There's not been anything said. Not a letter. Nothing," Moss said then. "I'm not saying that I want to stay here, but I love playing here. If the future of my job lets me go to another team, then that's what it's going to be. But for right now, I'm still in a contract for the New England Patriots, and I have a job to do.

"I don't want to talk about contracts. I just want to let you all know that I'm here to play my last season out. If an opportunity later on in the season presents itself for me to be a New England Patriot, I will accept that. But if it doesn't, I must move on."

A source told the Boston Herald on Tuesday that Moss requested a trade from the Patriots after that Week 1 meltdown in front of the media.

NFL Network insider Albert Breer noted that the Patriots would be due a third-round compensatory draft pick in 2012 if Moss left via free agency. By trading Moss, the Patriots could obtain a 2011 selection.

A first-round draft pick out of Marshall, Moss played in Minnesota from 1998 to 2004 and posted six 1,000-yard seasons. He was traded to the Oakland Raiders and had two mediocre seasons before being dealt to New England, where he enjoyed a resurgence. He caught an NFL-record 23 touchdown passes in 2007, his first season with the Patriots, and hasn't had less than 1,008 receiving yards in a full season with the team.

The Vikings have sought receiver help since the preseason after losing Sidney Rice for at least six weeks because of a hip injury. Percy Harvin, who has battled migraine headaches, leads all Minnesota wideouts with 12 catches for 106 yards and one touchdown. Greg Lewis and Bernard Berrian are next with five receptions each.

Should the Vikings acquire Moss this week, he could match up against New York Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis on Monday night at New Meadowlands Stadium. Revis sustained a hamstring injury while covering Moss on a long touchdown pass in Week 2 and is scheduled to return.

Hope we pick him up, our Receivers are just terrible this year. Shianco is out, Rice is out for at least a few more games, Harvin has issues with migraines and hip... so good news?

I don't understand New England's situation here. All that Moss has accomplished with them for the previous three years, to only reward him with uncertainty of his future or possibly trade. He still has the skill, I guess they don't feel his value is as high.

Yup, just read about it on nfl.com. We'll see how this plays out. Listening to the radio this morning they were talking about how Moss hasn't produced much for NE this year. He only has 9 catches and 139yrds so far this year. Hopefully Favre can use him. They also said that the Vikes are looking (Definitely are) at a deep threat since Sidney Rice is out, and other teams might cue on that. But, if we use Moss as a deep threat we could just fool the D# and get the short and maybe some long passes to other receivers. Just MO.

He is old as dirt and had ONE good year in Boston.

This should be all Favre needs to reach the Super Bowl. I really don't understand NE's reasoning here, though.

last year of his contract/doing randy a favour

randy never wanted to leave minne, he got shipped off. his best years were there and brett favre has been wanting to play with randy for YEARS

Its a business, and they are just cutting their ties because they dont think they will get much of a return on any future investment. What he did in the past means nothing to them. He is going to want probably a 3 year deal, and they dont think they will get 3 more good years out of him so they just traded him.

    • Thanks Microsoft but no, I find both iterations of Outlook terrible nowadays and switched back to Thunderbird at home.
    • Happens to the best of us, bro. 😛
    • Thanks to some of the other recent Windows improvements, I'm optimistic about this one. My quick wishlist would be: perf like the older menu, merge both menus or at the very least, the older menu should be a flyout, not a simulated click to the old menu, and lastly, a customization window to let users move items from one menu to another, so I could bring Send To back to the main menu, and the OneDrive settings to the older.
    • This Gigabyte AMD RX 9070 XT is very good deal despite the launch of 9070 GRE by Sayan Sen Recently we reviewed AMD's latest 1440p gaming card, the Radeon RX 9070 GRE 12GB, for $549. The card is in stock too at that price, though if you want significantly better performance and don't mind spending a bit more, the Gigabyte Gaming model of RX 9070 XT is currently on sale for just $650 (purchase link under the specs table down below). The card employs Gigabyte's WINDFORCE cooling system which combines multiple design elements such as alternate-spinning Hawk fans, a vapor chamber, and composite heat pipes to manage heat dissipation. The Server-grade Thermal conductive gel further helps in this department. The inclusion of a semi-passive cooling mode allows the fans to remain inactive under low workloads, which allows for reduced noise operation during lighter usage. There is dual BIOS switch that allows toggling between performance and silent modes. The technical specifications of the Gigabyte Radeon RX 9070 XT GAMING OC 16G are given in the table below: Specification Value Core Clock Boost Clock: up to 3060 MHz Game Clock: up to 2520 MHz Stream Processors 4096 Memory Clock 20 Gbps Memory Size 16GB Memory Type GDDR6 Memory Bus 256-bit Card Bus Interface PCI Express 5.0 Maximum Resolution 7680 × 4320 Multi-View Support 4 displays Card Dimensions L=288 mm, W=132 mm, H=56 mm Recommended Power Supply 750W Power Connectors 3 × 8-pin Video Outputs 2 × DisplayPort 2.1a 2 × HDMI 2.1b Get it at the link below: GIGABYTE Radeon RX 9070 XT Gaming OC 16GB Graphics Card, GV-R9070XTGAMING OC: $649.99 (Sold and Shipped by Amazon US) (Was: $740) This Amazon deal is US-specific and not available in other regions unless specified.
