iPad cannot edit Office Web Apps files?

Question

It seems like if I am trying to access Office Web Apps files on my iPad, the files cannot be edited. When I click "Edit in Browser", the document loads but I cannot seem to edit anything. No virtual keyboard appeared or anything. It seems like after a Google search, only Excel files can be edited. Anyone knows how I can get files like Word and Powerpoint to be edited too?

Thanks.

The fact that the Office Web app isn't compatible with the iPad isn't only Apple's problem. Microsoft could also make it work if they wanted too. I guess we will eventually see an app that connects to Office Web Apps.

Apple should also work to improve mobile Safari.

Do you need to edit them on the Web? If not, there are a couple of solutions for editing Office documents on the iPad, like Documents to Go, Quickoffice, Pages, Numbers and Keynote.

Yes I want to edit only on the web. Because the documents are in SharePoint 2010. :)

I know that the best solution would be if Safari could work with the Web Apps, but maybe you could use sth like this: http://itunes.apple.com/de/app/shareplus-office-mobile-client/id364895421?mt=8

It costs 11,99? but the reviews seem positive. There is also a test version you could download.

Thanks for that alternative :) Maybe will give the test version a try to see if it can do editing too.

I could be VERY wrong about this but from what I understand it's a problem Googles end. I have a Samsung Galaxy 2 running Android and I can't edit files in Google Documents either - Well I can but not the way I want and should be able to...

Google are working on it though and an update is hopefully imminent:

http://news.ebrandz.com/google/2010/3578-google-promises-to-deliver-docs-editing-on-android-ipad-.html

I've read that the problem is that browsers on Android /iPhone/Pad don't support a standard HTML element called contentEditable which is something that gmail uses that desktop browsers have built in...????
