Been using it now for a bit. I'm liking the tweaks. The Notifications now go to the app as mentioned above but they also show proper icons (like/wall/message) and user pictures! Haven't gotten much messaging with it yet but it looks good so far.

NO partial wake bug biggrin.gif

Seems the news feed now updates whenever you visit it instead of every 1hr (which was the refresh settings).

Yea it is much much better. The notifications open in app which is nice, I had one say that someone liked a picture but when I clicked on the notification nothing showed up? But seems to be so far, solid.

Crikey, about damn time too. It really is about time that they added the ability to post on groups and fan pages from within the app like you can with the iPhone edition.

I believe this update gives one the ability to post on Groups. I'm not too sure about Pages though.

Found this, (unless it was in the other version?) If you click on upload, next to "what's on your mind" you can now choose to take or upload from gallery instead of having to upload thru gallery. nice.

That was there in in 1.3.2 for sure, i think even 1.2. Dunno about before that though :)

Well I see the "Groups" feature in the app but I thought that was for the new groups feature they have added to people's accounts? I can't get my group list to even load right now so I can't answer that for sure.

I don't think Groups is loading for anyone! It even tried on wifi thinking maybe that'll speed it up but it's just loading and loading.

Yeah but it's better in the long run.

I disagree, the new groups are rubbish in functionality terms compared to the old ones. The ability to post to them has been in the iPhone app for ages, there is no reason to not have it in Android as well.

So it only shows the new style groups that we join. That's friggin irritating, thanks Facebook

It appears they're not quite sure what to do with the old groups, at the moment. The new groups aren't supposed to be used like the old groups - the new groups are a way to reflect the small social groups in one's life.

I am hoping Facebook transforms all of the old groups into pages; that way, there would be much more consistency because people started creating pages which should have been (old) groups ages ago.

Once that is done (I doubt they will though), Facebook could then find a way to identify each page type - official pages (companies, products, actors etc), community pages (already a type of page - those with no owner and, often, a Wikipedia article associated), Places pages, and the new pages which used to be old groups (a better name is needed).

Right now, leaving old groups as they are makes no sense at all.

I don't like the new groups feature to be honest, and I find the decision to completely hose the old style groups to be questionable, some things like member controls are a lot better for groups than they are for pages.

  • 4 weeks later...

the notification doesn't work really well.

the notification doesn't work really well.

They never worked very well...luckily I dont use this feature.

I constantly get errors when posting stuff. It actually does get posted but the error pops up regardless. I do have issues when posting photos.

The Android experience is becoming less and less positive for me.

Never had a problem here and no one else I know has any issues. I post pics every few days or so
