[Official] Football Manager 2011

My game had Mancini sacked as City manager after the first season and then sacked as Liverpool manager after the second season and now he's back at City

I was offered the Liverpool job but i declined.

Mancini was sacked first season at mine, and they are about to sack his replacement..I would never take that job to much expectation there

I'm going to pick this up on Steam later today. I meant to get into 2009 when it came out but then my son was born and just put it off. This will be my first FM game, looking forward to it.

Question: How does the opening game begin? Can you choose what club you want to manage or do you like to take control of lesser clubs to build them up? I'd like to start with Chelsea but am worried it will make the game feel too easy, leading to losing interest.

Reload the game. No-one will know apart from you :shifty:

But can your conscience take it? :p

haha I never do that I accept it and move on

What tactic are you using and what players for that to not mount up to goals?

4-1-3-2 I think it was just the players having a bad game

You can start with Chelsea if you want or you can start unemployed and try and get a job at lower league level and work your way up

Got from Steam today and started a new career taking on Chelsea. A bit overwhelmed, I must say. There is so much depth and information. Haven't made any decisions yet, just did my press conference and scheduled the friendly intra squad match. Rumors flying about me signing a new midfielder but not sure how that would go - I feel pretty good about that position. My plan is to get Sturridge up to form and axe Anelka...he's not one of my favorites :)

Can you guys recommend some good sites/forums regarding newcomers to the series?

I signed Pato and Diego for free's in the summer of 2012 :D and they are beasts!

Awesome, thanks Rappy!

So, I have my Chelsea save, just went through the first friendly against my reserve squad. 6:1. I decided to do another save, this time going unemployed and going to look for a lower league - I think it will be more fun that way.

Has anyone tried to take an offer as an assistant? Does it allow you to eventually work your way up to head coach?

no never tried that, I always go straight for West Ham because that alone is a challenge

that being said Pato bought this summer on a free was an epic buy! 8 goals in 3 games :D

Didn't know you could apply to be an assistant. Wonder what kind of gameplay that makes for.

lol! I learnt very early on in the Championship Manager series, that this is the easiest way to kill off the fun of the game. The ups and downs of the management career are what REALLY make it the gripping game it is.

My best victory to date still remains in FM09 Miguel Torres (RB) scoring the 123rd minute winner in the Champions League final against Real Madrid winning the cup for my very foreign West Ham side! :D
