custom windows xp restore?

is it possible to make your restore disc that boots up and restore your system exactly the way it was before with all your software installed and set up? i see my school, whenever a comp broke, they bring a floppy disc and boot up, then restore the whole system to the way it was before with all the software. i think they just copy the whole OS into the harddrive, how do they do that? is there a program that let's you make your own restore disc?

you create an image using software like Norton Ghost. Then you simply boot with the needed floppy and use the image cd to set the computer to exactly how the image was when it was created.

Norton Ghost 2003 or Powerquest Drive Image, either one will do the trick. :)

cool, hey my tosiba laptop uses norton ghost 2003 to restore it os. i guess they use the same software.

does nero6 six have a ghosting a built-in ghost software? i see the harddrive backup feature, isn't that it?
