How to enable Remote Desktop in windows 7 BASIC ?

I was following tutorial http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/magazine/ff404238.aspx

It says

To configure remote access, follow these steps:

1. In Control Panel, click System And Security, and then click System.

2. On the System page, click Remote Settings in the left pane. This opens the System Properties dialog box to the Remote tab.

3. To disable Remote Desktop, select Don’t Allow Connections To This Com¬puter, and then click OK.Skip the remaining steps.

4. To enable Remote Desktop, you have two options. You can:

Select Allow Connections From Computers Running Any Version Of Remote Desktop to allow connections from any version of Windows.

Select Allow Connections Only From Computers Running Remote Desktop With Network Level Authentication to allow connections only from Windows 7 or later computers (and computers with secure network authentication).

Notes

  • You cannot use Remote Desktop Connection to connect to computers running Windows Vista Starter, Windows Vista Home Basic, Windows Vista Home Basic N, or Windows Vista Home Premium. You can, however, connect from those editions ofWindows Vista to computers running other versions of Windows.

I personally like Teamviewer free for personal use and its easier to install then VNC . The person that you are helping doesnt even need to install it they can just run it. Otherwise you can also install it as a service.

I can control the destop by a Android phone, iPhone, Browser with flash, Linux, Mac, or PC

    • Enterprise support (ex. Premier Support) is a bit different cup of coffee. I am not saying it is great, but they have SLAs and I have received solution within hours and even patches within 3 days.
    • Thank you, for not reading the comments above and just reading the root comment... it is just like reading only the headline of an article.
    • I just teams to stop stealing the damn focus every time it starts or restarts after an update. Annoying as all hell.
    • Obviously new hardware costs more money. Never said you get new 2025 hardware for $266. You get new 2025 hardware for as little as $399 and only gets better with back to school sales. At the $499-699, there's some decent spec laptops with 16 GB RAM, and 1 TB SSD with better build quality than this lowest end ideapad.
