Emily_June
Ryan's most recent "Mexican Coke" bottle collection. Original photo is actually a compilation of 39 photos stitched together piece by piece. The panorama-type distortion I was hoping to achieve with this method doesn't show up very much, but I'm still happy with the result.EDIT: I've removed the white labels from the bottles and reshot them. There's now a second pack for download, sans labels. See below. EDIT 2: Fixed the download links. click images to download First pack (with labels) contains 16 total wallpapers with two resolutions: 1920x1200 and 1920x1080 Second (sans labels) pack contains 9 wallpapers in one resolution: 2560x1600 If you guys need any other resolutions, I'll be happy to add them--just let me know. I'll edit the list of resolutions above as more are added. Enjoy. neufuse Veteran Posted December 1, 2010 Veteran Share Posted December 1, 2010 what exactly did they need to stitch 39 photos together to get the original image again? Emily_June
what exactly did they need to stitch 39 photos together to get the original image again? Seems like a waste of time I was experimenting. The panorama type distortion I was hoping for only shows through a bit in the photo--but I still like my result. The original photo is much wider than the cropped preview, above. And this photo wouldn't have been possible in one shot with the lens I was shooting with. Maybe it seems like a waste of time to you, but for me, it was plenty fun to play around with on my day off. You can take your photos your way, and I'll take mine my way. Deal? Well I was only asking because there wasn't a reason stated why, and when there is no reason, its hard to justify that amount of work :) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/957642-wallpaper-mexican-coke/#findComment-593446464 Share on other sites

c.grz
Sad those white labels are still on them...other than that; it's a great shot! But I'd rather drink some "Mexican Coke" then look at empty bottles of them! ;-) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/957642-wallpaper-mexican-coke/#findComment-593446952 Share on other sites
Emily_June
Very nice work. I like it. :) Cool! Thanks for sharing! Thanks, guys. I'm glad you like them. :) Perfect for a coke addict like me.... :D I originally made it for the boyfriend because he's been quite obsessed with the stuff, lately. These bottles are only from the past two weeks, and there are twice as many regular plastic coke bottles, haha. We're not even very big soda drinkers. Glad you like it. :) Sad those white labels are still on them...other than that; it's a great shot! But I'd rather drink some "Mexican Coke" then look at empty bottles of them! ;-) I considered pulling the white labels off, but they're there because they're an imported item, and everything on the original labels are written in Spanish. I guess leaving them on seemed more authentic to me, somehow. They're also stuck on quite well. I may go back and redo the shot without the labels, though. They bother me, too. ;) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/957642-wallpaper-mexican-coke/#findComment-593447142 Share on other sites

c.grz
I found that a good way to get rid of the labels is to let them soak in water for some time. What equipment did you use? My only fear is that it'll ruin the original labels a bit, too. But I'll give it a try. Lord knows we have enough bottles to spare. Thanks :) I used my Canon EOS 400D, 50mm EF f/1.8 lens, and Canon Speedlite 430EX II Flash. Oh...........you intented a joke  A lame joke. Yes. That's me. Lame. :) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/957642-wallpaper-mexican-coke/#findComment-593447364 Share on other sites

Emily_June
Nice setup. I'm a Nikon man myself...but if it works... I'm certainly not anti-Nikon. I've just shot with Canon since I got my parent's Canon AE-1 on my 8th birthday, haha. Hoping to upgrade soon, though. What kind of equipment do you generally shoot with? My Nikon is a D300 and I usually have the 18-200mm lens for general shooting, but I have the lovely 24-70 f/2.8 when I want something to look really really nice. I have a few medium format cameras but I rarely shoot those as developing those are a pain! I just need my Holga and I'll be all set! Guest
two wide angle shots from close should get you the effect you wanted and if that's not enough, take 4 for a bit of extra resolution and use distortion correction to add distortion, rather than take it away. Make sure when you stick that no options are set to fix perspective.
