Tews
1. Open the Start Menu. 2. In the search box, type regedit and press Enter 3. In regedit, go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control 4. In the right pane, right click on WaitToKillServiceTimeout and click on Modify 5. Type in a number between 2000-20000 (2-20 seconds) and click on OK. (See screenshot below) NOTE: The default time is 12000. I use 2000 (2 seconds) and have not had any problems. Your experience may vary. 6. Close regedit. NOTE: If you have problems with programs from your computer shutting down to quickly, then repeat the above steps and increase the time (step 5) a bit. Try making it much longer and you'll see that you no longer get that screen. neo158
This is a known issue in Windows 7 and Microsoft are, apparently, going to fix this in SP1. [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control] "WaitToKillServiceTimeout"="12000" The above is what mine is set to and it still shows up!!! soldier1st
the safest settings if you want to change them is to set them at 5000=5 seconds. 1 second is way too low and problems may arise but the default settings should be sufficient. neo158
The windows 7 users i have seen have not had that screen appear for more than a few seconds so it must be something that your running. Usually it's WLM, Skype and Steam that cause the issue as the don't shutdown fast enough.
