I am trying to find a new desk, but to no avail. It's got to be thin, about 3/4 of a metre wide. Any ideas?

iMac looks huge on that desk heh!

Desks are so important I think and can affect the whole workflow... it annoys me they give you such crap ones in student houses! (Right now I either have to type... or have my textbook on there. I cannot do both. God forbid I should ever want to do any writing.)

Yeah I do really needa better one, and would buy one in an instant if I could get one that fits.. I have strict space requirements which most desks can't fill. :[ Especially modern ones.. they're huge.

Same here. Now imagine trying to fit TWO machines on that same desk!

Its mainly a media pc for myself, games tv movies etc. I'm not really trying to look at the full screen if I'm using it for "pc" related tasks. And the plastic wrap is well, I figured why take it off. The dust looks worse to me, plus when I sell the tv for a newer model it will be that much newer heh. I know, I know...

It's called polishing. And if you spend 30 seconds every couple of days doing it, you will never see any dust. That plastic ... if it's cool for you, great. But that plastic looks freaking horrible. lol

excuse the crappy picture quality and the even worse mouse mat.

my setup is rather weak at the moment. advent laptop (out of sight  ) > single core celeron cpu > 2gb ram > 250gb hard drive > intel onboard graphics > LG 22" 1920x1080 screen.

It isn't what the specs are, it's what you need out of the PC, if that's all you need it for then it's fine. Yeah I'd love a super awesome desktop PC, but at the moment my laptop suffices.

At the moment, even though the HD resolution of my 24" monitor is nice, I'm lacking in space on my desk, with the printer there as well. :pinch:

This is how I drumroll now:

where did u get that little android from? i want one too :p :)

and what docking station (if that is one) are u using for the htc desire?

Wow, an eMac. I haven't seen those before. Any good for current times?

For a six year old computer, it's pretty good for basic tasks like web browsing and chatting. The only bad thing is that it takes up half of my desk, but I got a really good deal on it and wanted to get a taste of the Apple. :p

    • Windows 95 offered the ability to add and edit the right click menus, on a per file type basis. This feature seems to be missing in the new file explorer. Are they bringing it back as a "new" feature?
    • It's nearly time to replace my aging Founders Edition 3080, it doesn't OC as nicely as it used to and it's running around 10c warmer than it did when I first bought it.  I don't have budget for much more than what I spent on the 3080 and locally, that means the best GPU I can manage is a 9070XT. On this basis I have a few questions: 1. At present I don't use ray tracing, if this was to change, would this GPU be an issue? 2. How does it compare on a performance basis? 3. Are the drivers worse or better than those for nVidia? 4. Linux support, is it there? 5. Anything else I should be aware of if I were to make this change? 6. Is it a good idea or shall I try and keep the 3080 a little longer.
    • What OS is that? It looks a bit like Mac OS but the command line suggests it isn't, either way I like it!
    • Outlook classic is inherently better than new outlook, for a number of reasons. That said, if the only reason people need office is to read email, they should just use thunderbird.
