Just a quick side-by-side demo of a few games loading up so you can see the difference. It's all down to better memory managment so even normal apps should see a boost as well.

Wow, great find. Sounds like Microsoft is really taking this release seriously (Not that there was much doubt about their seriousness about WP7). I cannot wait for WP7 to come to Verizon... I wish something would happen there already. lol I want it now...

But yeah, that was rather drastic... I am really surprised. It even seemed a bit more fluid in its rendering of the animations in some areas as well. Looks like a solid update.

I just got a Windows Phone 7! LG Optimus, and have to say I absolutely love it! it's so nice and kept together and fast.

Can't wait for this new update :D

I just want an improvement for the marketplace. it can be slow and when it doesnt respond, it wont reopen and I need to restart my phone.

It's even slower if you have an Omnia 7... all network calls (or at least WiFi) are noticeably slower, about 1-2 seconds slower than HTC devices :p

Strange part is that my Focus is closer to the patch speed in comparison to that video already (if I follow the same load points).

Yeah, I was going to say, when I had my Samsung Focus, it did not seem near as slow as the video demo.

What about other apps? Facebook loading, especially, comes to mind.

My only guess is that it'll be different from device to device depending on the storage in use, i.e. NAND or microSD etc. And maybe it's just me but facebook doesn't take long to load for me. Maybe cuz I don't have 10,000 friends in my list? :p

As far as I can understand, adjusting the way stuff is loaded into memory does affect everything across the board, apps and games. However, some stuff has other dependencies (like Facebook/Seesmic are connection-limited usually), and the XNA-Framework based games really see the biggest boost (and also need it the most). There's likely a measurable difference between Facebook with and without the update, but I doubt it's a noticable difference.

Although I am not at all fond of WP7, it is good to see Microsoft taking this so much more seriously, and putting more development in than they did with Windows Mobile, choice is a good thing, it will force innovation from Google, Apple, and RIM

Haha yeah, competition is most definately good for the consumer, with regard both to cost and innovation :)
