Is pig blood can be served as a food?

Recommended Posts

Chinese people are told by some media in China that in foreign countries pig blood has been recommended as a good food (for example Sweden regards it as "liquid meat".). I'm not certain if it is real. Because a Chinese writer once said that blood was toxic. And I suspect that in United States people would cast out pig blood as foul water.

Never heard of that!

I do know that there are people who have a fetish for blood, even drinking it, just like vampires and yes, those people are in professional jargon called vampires, just that I wouldn't see anyone of THEM even to generally consider it mainstream 'food'.

And yes, if you don't have a desease-free source of blood, drinking it - the fresher and more pure it is - can be reaaally dangerous.

Practically any illness is carried in blood.

If one is in for trying it, I would suggest doing it with someone who you trust and KNOW is not ill etc...

I would, but seriously... I sure would not "buy" it somewhere and... OH GOOD LORD! :x

Addition: Okay, there IS some sorts of food where blood is contained and is actual part of it and even gives it the name.

For example German "Blutwurst" or black pudding, as Intrinsica has mentioned. But: Not to the extend that you actually buy it rare or stuff...

People drink raw blood a lot, when they have raw meats. Cooked meats and sausages have blood in them. Even kosher and halal meats will still have some blood left that people eat.

I drink my own blood. If I cut myself I may lick the blood away and I can't be bothered not to swallow it. I have never, to my knowledge, caught any disease from drinking my own blood.

Why do people drink other people's blood? Are you suggesting it is a sexual thing?

Over here it's mainly used in sausages in many European countries.

In Belgium and Holland we call it bloedworst ( free translation) bloodsausage. In Germany, Austria they call it Blutwurst, Boudin Noir in France, buttifara negra in Spain and sanguinaccio insaccato in Italy.

We use mainly pigs blood , mixed with same fats, bacon, spices and fillings like bread.

I have never, to my knowledge, caught any disease from drinking my own blood.

You won't catch a disease from drinking your own blood. For lack of a better description, you're working with a closed system, so either the disease is already present in your blood when you ingest it or your blood is disease-free.

Some people drink blood as a sexual fetish, others truly think that it provides them with some sort of bonus (better health, longer life etc.).

Some people are trying new ways to eat or drink...

Some deer hunters drink blood from deer these days.

Some people eat cat, snake, etc..

It is all over the internet about those animals and blood that people eat/drink. For example: chinese eat cat, hunters drink deer blood, and list goes on..

Even kosher and halal meats will still have some blood left that people eat.

A small clarification here.

I am not sure about kosher meat but halal meat is not supposed to have blood in it. One of the objectives of halal slaughtering is to get rid of the blood totally. I have had such meats for long.

Only careless or badly done halal meat will have blood in it. Even in this case the little blood that is still there is not intentional as in the foods described above where blood is an expected and valid component of the disk.

Black Pudding is quite common with a cooked breakfast fry-up. I had it once - I did not know what it was, we were staying at a guest house (I was quite young) and they asked me if I wanted Black Pudding, I said yes. My uncle kept saying that I wouldn't like it.

I ate it though - at least most of it, it is very rich. Only after was I told what it was, I didn't mind though!

I don't think I could eat it again knowingly! lol

Chicken: yes. Pig: simply no and disgusting... Do you know how many kinds of bacteria the pigs have ?

Sal...mon...el...la?

Sorry, it just seemed a bit of an odd comment. Especially considering we're not talking about having the blood raw, it's something that needs cooking, so the harmful bacteria get destroyed.

Well, see below:

Exactly what I was thinking.

And yea, it is a sexual fetish, but it also can be a kind of "lifestyle" or habit separate from sexual desires.

Some people, as you have mentioned believe it to get them health bonus.

Others have a sexual liking for it.

One can find it disgusting, but I see nothing wrong in trying and maybe liking a partner's blood. (If all is okidoky of cause, same goes for unprotected sex though...)

Chicken: yes. Pig: simply no and disgusting... Do you know how many kinds of bacteria the pigs have ?

I truely hope that is not your practice!

Chicken ALWAYS needs to be done, pig and other animals it is not so important.

Chicken is the egg of meats! :D

I would only serve that to a vampire :x

Call me one, then! :D

j/k... I guess for me it's "just"? a fetish

In food, I will kindly say no :p

I've never heard of this in my life. And quite frankly, I have no plans on trying it. :x

What are you referring to exactly?

There's a lot of things currently mentioned :D

    • Linux 7.2's first release candidate gets off to a good start by Paul Hill Credit: Larry Ewing It has been a few weeks since the release of Linux 7.1, and in that time, the Linux 7.2 merge window has been open, where developers can submit their features and patches ready for the upcoming release. That window is now shut, and the release candidate phase has begun so that new features can be tested and further fixes applied. According to the founder of Linux, Linus Torvalds, this week’s release candidate looks “reasonably normal”. Although we are super early in the release candidates, this is a good sign as it makes it more likely that an eighth release candidate will not be needed. Torvalds even mentioned that the update’s stats are only larger than they really are because there was another AMD header drop with a third of the patch just being AMD GPU register definitions, which aren’t big changes but make the code contributed look larger overall. In addition to this, he noted that just over half the patch is drivers, even when excluding the AMD register dump. The rest of the changes are spread out over architecture updates, tooling, documentation, and core kernel updates. In the next week, Torvalds says that he will be chilling out, taking the week “mostly off”. Despite this, he will be reading emails and keeping up with things, so if he is slow responding, now you know why. He said he is hoping for a calm week, but we will just have to see if the second release candidate is actually like that. We should expect seven or eight release candidates before Linux 7.2 is released, so expect it around the end of August. If you missed it a few weeks ago, be sure to check out our coverage of Linux 7.1's release.
