Hey guys, I'm looking for a program that will monitor my usage bandwidth. I have a 200Gb cap every month so this is very important for me. It'll be great if the program had the following:

1) A display that shows how much I've downloaded for the current month in real-time

2) A display that always shows my download speed

3) An alert system that will alert me when I almost reach my limit

If there's something like this out there please let me know, thanks.

Try DUMeter at dumeter.com ... note: it is not free. but you can try before you buy.

Dumeter doesn't display how much I've downloaded in realtime, it just shows the speed.

Same with Networx.. and it won't let me set the date for my monthly limit... it just assumes my monthly usage cycle starts on the 1st of every month..

Any other recommendations?

For Networx, in the usage reports it shows you realtime, in daily, weekly, etc.

You can also do Custom for the dates.

You can also go into Settings/Advanced and change the start of the week/month.

1) Most (decent) providers have external access API, which enables people to create apps/widgets that do just that. Mine even have links to apps that people made for them.

2) Plenty out there. I use the Network Meter gadget on my desktop.

3) Again, decent providers would have email alerts that you can set up to tell you when your usage has reached X% of your quota.

A desktop app that calculates your downloads/uploads is fine if you're the only user. But if you have multiple devices connected in your house, the best source of information is your own provider.

Look around in their website, or give them a ring.

The thing is that the displays don't display how much you've downloaded, it only displays the speeds. Is there one with a nice interface that displays the speeds AND how much you've downloaded? It would make life a lot easier. Also, I don't need those weird looking graphs that go up and down lol, numbers are good enough for me.

By the way, I'm planning to get the RT-N16 very soon.. will programs like Tomato allow me to do this?

Looks like you didn't try it, DU Meter alerts you if you reach your bandwidth limit. For example you have 200GB limit each month. You put 100GB in the settings so it will alert you when it reach 100GB so you will have plenty of bandwidth left in the rest of the month before next month comes up.

Do not worry about the speed on the display.. It will alert you via sound or pop-up notification as soon as the limit is reached.

It will ask you how much bandwidth you want to be notified at the program installation.

About the router and tomato, Sure you can but tomato firmware may not work all of the routers... check your router model and tomato's support list for routers.

Networx will show you what you want without the graphs if you would bother looking through the settings. Go into Settings->Main. Change the tray icon behavior.

Ok I think I got the graph to display what I want. But I'm having a lot trouble with the graph itself... it's not showing when I want it to.. and sometimes it even disappears..

How do I get it to show with a single click.. and then go behind my other windows when I don't need it?

Under Setting->Main there is a setting for Hover, Click, and Double-Click. Not sure if you can make it stay on top or not. You can make the graph stay on top or not. It's on the Graph tab. You can also set to show usage summary or not. Several options.

You would just have to set the Hover settings to show, then click the X to close is the only suggesting I have if that helps you any.

    • Elon Musk's Starlink loses all links as it goes down with a global outage by Sayan Sen Image via StarlinkIf you are using Starlink services in your home and are having trouble accessing their services, you are definitely not alone. Several thousand users online are reporting that they are noticing the same issue. The first reports started emerging on Reddit where a Redditor noticed that Starlink was already aware of the situation. On the front page of the official Starlink website, a message had been posted that read "Starlink is currently experiencing a service outage. Our team is investigating." Unfortunately, we could not access Starlink's own website to verify it, as it is leading to a "Error 503 Request timed out" and "Error 54113" messages, likely because the server is loaded with user visits as they are trying to find out what is going on. We will update the story once more details are available. Thanks for the tip MrElectrifyer!!!!
