Intel RST Verification Errors

So I just finished installing everything on my new computer and I decided to have Intel RST (latest, version 10.1.0.1008) verify the 2-disk RAID1 volume. I initialized it before doing most of the program installation and copying over of files. It's about half way complete right now and showing 23 verification errors. I checked the option of automatically repairing.

Can't find much in the help files or online, was wondering if someone with experience with Intel RST could shed some light on two questions:

1. Since it's a 2-disk raid 1, what the heck does automatic repair do? How does it know which disk has the right data?

2. Should I be worried about the verification errors that are found? Is it indicative of a problem I need to fix?

Usually, if there are some errors found, the data is corrupted, I would recommend to do a scandisk from windows and check SMART status for each of the hard drive. It may be that one of them is failing.

hmm, these are brand new drives, and i couldn't figure out how to check the SMART status of the drives in RAID. Intel RST reports both as "normal"

the help files give limited explanation:

Verification errors found Reports the number of inconsistencies found during the last volume data verification.

Block with media errors Reports the number of blocks with media errors found during the last volume data verification.

i got 23 verification errors and 0 blocks with media errors.
