I like EasyDVD Creator. Hasn't ever NOT been able to convert a file for me or wasted my time thinking it had converted it correctly only to not be able to burn it to dvd.

I found that Free make video converter doesn't work very well as the converted video playbacks very choppy.

super or Hamster would be my votes.

If you convert MKV files to AVI with Super does the quality degrade a lot or not really? i'm looking for an app that can convert mkv to avi/mp4 but no lose the quality and be able to burn them to dvd.

You could try using Avidemux to move the video streams into a new container without re-encoding. If it asks you to enable "Smart Copy", that probably means it's going to re-encode the video.

There is also XMedia Recode which has a "Video Copy" checkbox (located under the Video tab), but my personal experience is that it doesn't work properly in most cases.

I have an MKV file, I already converted it to play on Xbox/PS3 but when I try to create video audio files with DVDSanta it doesn't like the video or sometimes the audio? :s Thank you for the recommendations

+1 for MediaCoder. It pretty much converts anything to anything.

Another happy Xilisoft Video Converter Ultimate 6 user here :)

Its the only one I have found that is able to convert all kinds of videos without messing up things like screen aspect ratios.

It also very easy to use and is pretty fast too.

Works with just about any kind of video file.

Also for getting MKV to play on PS3 you may want to try mkv2vob

Mkv2ob DTS patching defeats Cinavia also :)

So you're trying to burn them to a DVD? There are great freeware programs you could try, such as DVD Flick and WinX DVD Author. There are plenty more listed under 07.05 CD & DVD -> Burners -> Video.

I've used DVDFlick but had issues with the audio becoming screwed up and out of sync.. i'll check some more out.

If all else fails, ConvertXtoDVD is one of the best commercial programs for converting video to DVD.

I see WINXDVD supports and converts mkv to dvd so maybe I'll give that a shot.
