The announced fights are:

Brock Lesnar vs. Junior dos Santos

Kenny Florian vs. Diego Nunes

Shane Carwin vs. TBA

Dustin Poirier vs. Rani Yahya

Darren Elkins vs. Michihiro Omigawa

Dave Herman vs. Rob Broughton

Curious to whom Shane Carwin is going to fight. Will it be Roy Nelson? Since Cro-Cop is tangled with Schaub there aren't many top HW left since he already pounded Mir out with ease.

STOP THE PRESSES.

Lesnar is out due to a diverticulitis flare-up. Shane Carwin is in. I think it will be a good fight but it's kind of bad for JDS, to keep boucing around opponents like that. He agreed to fight Brock because Cain was out due to injury and now has to prepare to fight a guy that is very different on kind of short notice. And he has much more to lose. If he loses to Carwin, he loses his title shot and there goes a nice payday. Carwin was going to fight the grapplemonster Jon Olav Einemo in his UFC debut but gets to step up to Main Event status and get a crack at the #1 Contenter. Not bad at all. Let's see which HW they get to fight Einemo (can't think of anyone who's currently free to step up on short notice) It's going to be a slugfest :woot:

So for the event thread, this is UFC 131: Carwin vs. Dos Santos

Shane Carwin vs. Junior dos Santos

Kenny Florian vs. Diego Nunes

Jon Olav Einemo vs. TBA

Demian Maia vs. Mark Munoz

Not a bad event.

The Stout KO was insane, yves looked scary on the canvas.

Pee Wee Herman was shocking but exciting... he got rocked and both me and my wife were like "oh he's done" then he quickly turned it around ad won it.

The Maia Fight was BS... i had maia winning the 1st and 3rd, although the 3rd was close. I would have given it a draw easily, but whoever the judge is that gave it 30-27 for Munoz is ridiculous, my jaw dropped when i heard that bs.

Kenny Florian was pretty impressive, i really expected him to be slow and tired from the cut, but he was pretty sharp and his elbows are like ****ing razors man.

Main event: JDS is a ****ing beast, no idea how carwin made it out of the first round, but he just kept getting picked apart and didn't really attack like i hoped he would.

Overall nice event. Not "good" but much better than UFC 130.

I must point out that 1 of the judges was retarded. Every fight that went to a decision clearly had a score that had nothing to do with the fight. Maia, JDS, something fishy was going around in the water. Let's talk about the fights:

Main Card

Shane Carwin vs. Junior dos Santos - JDS showed why he is (and was) the top contender for the title. He dominated the fight with his crisp striking and put a beating on Carwin. He even had time to perform 2!! takedowns. JDs... completing takedowns. One can argue that this was a bad fight for Carwin because he was coming in from a long layoff after surgery but I don't think it would have made a difference. The Shane Carwin we saw today was leaner, had better cardio and great endurance. JDS is just too good. What's next? For JDS it's Cain and as for Carwin... maybe Roy Nelson? I really don't know, he's on a 2 fight losing streak but is still a top HW fighter. How about Travis Browne?

Jon Olav Einemo vs. Dave Herman - Dave Herman does not look like a HW. He weighted in at 233 and seems like he could do 205 without much trouble. That being said, he fought very well against the 266 behemoth that is Einemo. Despite his crappy striking chanelling Lavar Johnson (Big Right Hand Baby!), Einemo ended up getting some good punches in and some nice knees but Herman took it like a champ. He was wobbled a bit but mounted a strong comeback to finish Einemo by TKO. It was a very good fight and deserved FOTN.

Donald Cerrone vs. Vagner Rocha - Cerrone keeps increasing his streak at LW. It was a pretty one-sided fight with Vagner coming on on short notice and not having any tools to deal with Cerrone's vicious striking. Not much to add here, next for Cerrone should be a "name" LW to see if he has what it takes to make a run at the LW title (and the title pictures keeps getting complicated). Maybe have him fight Bendo or Petis.

Demian Maia vs. Mark Munoz - Retarded juding alert: someone scored this 30-27 for Mark. Altough I think that Mu?oz won the fight, Demian pretty clearly took the first round. It was surprising to see Demian Maia showing some *gasp* striking instead of just hoping that guys fall into his guard.

Kenny Florian vs. Diego Nunes - Kenny Florian won. No surprises here, Nunes is still maturing as a fighter and just couldn't handle an elite LW like Florian who wasn't affected at all by his cut (probably entered the cage at around 155-160 anyway). But if he thinks he's going to cruise to a title, he's got another thing coming. Aldo, Hominick, Mendes, Roop, Poirier (maybe) and Hatsu Hioki (maybe almost certain). Maybe they'll have him welcome Hioki to the UFC (and hopefully break the curse of the Japanese champions losing their debuts).

Prelims on Spike

Yves Edwards vs. Sam Stout - WOW. Sam Stout showing why he's called Hands of Stone. One punch and it was game over. He didn't even double tap it for the finish, Yves was in another planet after that punch.

Chris Weidman vs. Jesse Bongfeldt - I can only imagine how hard Weidman was crushing that standing guillotine for Bongfeldt to tap with 5 seconds left on the clock. Now that Marquardt is down to WW, maybe next he'll fight Tim Boetsch or Court McGee (who he replaced in this fight).

Prelims

Dustin Poirier vs. Jason Young - Didn't watch.

Krzysztof Soszynski vs. Mike Massenzio - Didn't watch.

Aaron Rosa vs. Joey Beltran - For a HW fight this was pretty fun. Neither one of them gassed badly and brutal striking was had by all. In the end, Beltran prevailed but everyone won in this fight. Have Pat Barry fight Matt Mitrione and Tim Hague rematch Joey Beltran for some HW fireworks. Have Struve fight Rosa.

Darren Elkins vs. Michihiro Omigawa - Didn't watch.

Nick Ring vs. James Head - Didn't watch.

    • Most boring game ever. Repetitive, empty, predictable, and full of cliches. Total waste of time and money, IMO.
    • Mafia: The Old Country expansion Man of Honor announced, brings back Salieri from original by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe During Summer Game Fest, 2K and Hanger 13 brought out a new Mafia: The Old Country trailer, revealing the game's first expansion. Named Man of Honor, this is slated to add two new chapters to the Enzo storyline that the game follows. There is an iconic character returning to the series with this expansion, with players set to run into Ennio Salieri, the future Don of the Salieri crime family. Fans of the original Mafia, or its Definitive Edition remake, may remember that name as one of the biggest characters in the storyline. This expansion is set prior to his rise to being the kingpin in the City of Lost Heaven. "Set in Sicily during the winter of 1905, Enzo Favara has proven himself a reliable soldier of the Torrisi crime family in the months since his initiation," says the studio about the new chapters. "Now, the Don entrusts him and Cesare with a delicate assignment of assisting Ennio Salieri, a man of honor recently released from prison and intent on reclaiming what is his." Working at Salieri's side, players will be heading into fresh environments as they return to the role of Enzo as a high-ranking soldato. The studio also promises brand-new weapons, fresh vehicles, and charms to collect in this expansion. Moreover, the expansion will add new content to the updated Free Ride mode. Alongside new collectibles and locations, this will add more challenges to beat alongside Salieri, which are described as runs that will "test the skills of even the most elite mafiosi." The Mafia: The Old Country Man of Honor story expansion will release on August 14, 2026, across PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5. It will cost $10 for owners of the base game to jump into.

    • Telltale returns with The Wolf Among Us, re-revealing the sequel and a new remaster by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Telltale Games, the studio known for its episodic games from the 2000s, had a surprise appearance at the Summer Game Fest showcase today. The studio has gone through a collapse, an acquisition, and a revival but has largely gone silent in recent years. Today's sudden announcement was for the popular The Wolf Among Us series, with news about the sequel and a remaster dropping. Set after the events of the 2013-released title, the sequel will bring back Biby Wolf for a new adventure in Fabletown. This town of fairy tale characters is becoming unstable, with Snow White not being able to keep order as before. "When a brutal series of crimes threatens to fracture the fragile balance holding Fabletown together, Bigby Wolf, sheriff of Fabletown, finds himself drawn into a dangerous conspiracy that reaches deep into the city’s criminal underworld," says the studio. "As suspicion spreads across the city and powerful forces work against him, Bigby must uncover the truth and decide what kind of sheriff - and what kind of wolf - he is willing to become." At the same time, Telltale also announced The Wolf Among Us Remastered, bringing back the classic with a fresh coat of paint. This will include all five episodes from the original game plus over an hour of extra content that will offer behind-the-scenes videos, cast interviews, image galleries, and deleted scenes. The remaster will also have updated visuals and improved UI elements and accessibility features, alongside upgrades to the animations, audio, and frame rates. Telltale has been working on this project for almost a decade now, but if the new release schedule holds, fans will be able to jump into The Wolf Among Us 2 sometime in 2027. As for The Wolf Among Us Remastered, this is slated to release during this holiday season.
