t_r_nelson
I've been looking for information on amd_dc_opt.exe that runs on startup on my Win7 - 64-bit system. I can't find a definitive answer as to what it is. And, yes, I've searched Google. The question that I have is why is it on my Intel-based system? This is a clean build of Win7 - x64 with a Core i7-860. It have a Gigabyte P55-UDR3 board but I do have an ATI/AMD Radeon 4870 video card. My only thought was that it slipped in with that. Are there any issues with removing it from startup or the system? Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/980550-what-is-amd_dc_optexe/ Share on other sites
iamawesomewicked
It's a program for AMD's Dual Core processors, it's a Dual Core Optimizer. If you don't have an AMD Processor, you could delete the file. neufuse Veteran Posted March 6, 2011 Veteran Share Posted March 6, 2011 You really searched google? I typed it in and the very first link I got http://searchtasks.answersthatwork.com/tasklist.php?File=AMD_DC_opt says exactly what it is Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/980550-what-is-amd_dc_optexe/#findComment-593761932 Share on other sites
Guest xiphi
It's used to timing issues for mutlicore AMD CPU's. In other words, without it, a game like Crazy Taxi for PC will run WAY too fast to even be playable. That said, it's only for AMD multicore CPU's. t_r_nelson
You really searched google? I typed it in and the very first link I got http://searchtasks.answersthatwork.com/tasklist.php?File=AMD_DC_opt says exactly what it is I found that link. Let me rephrase that. I couldn't find anything that pointed to why it was installed. What I was wondering is how it got on my system. It said it's included with Windows Update but I can't figure out why it would end up installing on an Intel cpu system. Aside from the ATI video card, I don't have anything on the system that is AMD. BigYoSpeck
Is it listed under the Programs and Features control panel? If so just uninstall it. Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/980550-what-is-amd_dc_optexe/#findComment-593763174 Share on other sites
