I am currently using a Canon MP360 MultiPass multi-purpose printer. Here are some details as of its performance currently;

- Bought in 2004/05 (Canon website states it was released 2006, but that is BS because I got the printer with my ex, and I have been with my fiance since early 06').

- Black BCI-24 costs $9 and prints roughly ~50 pages.

- Colour BCI-24 costs $17 and prints roughly ~30 pages.

- USB, drivers still valid for Win 7, but not Mac.

So here is my issue. I swear I buy a cartrage once every week. I barely printed colour and the cartrage is already empty!! I love this printer, it still works, but I swear im going through ink like a madman without printing large volumes. I believe its efficiency has deteriorated. My fiance suggests to get a new one, but this printer has outlasted any printer I have ever known, so I would hate to part with it if nothing is wrong with it.

So my question is, is it time to replace it?

If yes, then what printer should I get next? I like Canon, I hate EPSON. I am unsure about HP and Brother, Kodak is out of the question.

The new printer would need to be;

- PC and Mac compatible

- Wireless (Multiple computers and possibly AirPrint)

- Have a decent pages per ink ratio

- Be between $50-140 because thats what my budget allows

- Multi-purpose but no need for fax

- I print mostly black, rarely colour. Never print photos. Will use printer mostly for reports and documents with occasional colour on cover pages and letterheads.

Neowinners :p, please help.

unless your black ink cost $5 and print around 500pages like my lexmark 901 does I recommend you to buy a new printer every time you run out of ink. Sound crazy? well, i have a friend that like to do that cause she say most inks cost more than a new printer which has ink included with it. HP printers, in general, have really good quality picture.

I'd pass on an inkjet. For those rare times you print color, i'd get a cheap ass printer at walmart for the color but for your main printing I would go with a laser printer. I stoped using an ink jet printer 5 years ago.

after 2 epsons and a canon i recently got a brother inkjet printer. the main point going for one was the cheap price of the inks. much lower than epson and canon.

What you say about the prices of ink is true.

..

And the same about HP Printers.

im not just saying that because I work for them, but from the different brands ive tried in the past 6 years, HP has been the best at colors.

For just normal black and white. Lexmark.

I was at BestBuy the other day and I bought the HP OfficeJet 6500A E710n. The laser printers I was originally looking for, they didn't have in stock, and the cheapest Brother printer was $150 and out of stock, so with my budget I literally had 1 choice. Though, I love it. At 1,200 pages per cartrage, at a $99 price, its cheaper in the long run and is energy efficient. So far, I loved the 2 days of hardcore use I got out of it and it still has 98% ink left.

Thanks for everyone's input.
