Android Market showing only free apps?

Recommended Posts

On the main page i have Featured, Top Paid, Top Free so maybe it's because only free stuff are available in your area? Google doesn't have paid apps in every market yet?

Damn, I used USA proxy & it shows all. I hate when companies do such sort of censoring!.

It's not censoring, it's Google having problems with the laws in Pakistan that forces them to only offer free apps to you, so blame your Government for whatever restrictions there are

I think most people use cracked apps so they get too low revenue to sustain their operations in Pakistan. :(

Also if there is a phone listed and OS specification is Android 2.x then will it remain same or can it be upgraded to latest Android like 2.3!

It has nothing to do with operations in Pakistan as they don't need to host servers there. They probably have them all at the same place (with backups offsite) and you connect. It's just local laws prohibiting stuff or making it hard/too many hoops to jump thru.

As for phones upgrading, that depends on the phone but in general they are all upgradable, it depends on if the manufacturer will upgrade it or not. It's not up to Google.

Works fine here, my only gripe is they show the price in GBP, then go ahead and charge you in USD thus creating two additional charges for, a conversion charge and an admin fee for processing foreign funds :( Why can't they just let us pay in our own currency, the only thing about apple appstore I like.

Must be a UK thing, I've purchased apps in Yen and GBP and have not had to pay anything extra.

    • No, it doesn't, but I'm sure you don't just mean compile when you say compile.
    • Wine is a translation layer, not an emulator. And there are many cases where performance is worse or BETTER under Proton, it really depends on the game in question.

    • Give me an example of Microsoft "don't like something from you" so "you simply get locked down"? I am all for government using Linux and open source software but no need to make stuff up.
