Ps3 network connection not working

Recommended Posts

I have a ps3 slim and I had it for about three months and one day it wouldnt connect through my wired connection. So I ended up switching to wireless but now I'm getting the 80029020 error? Why would my wired connection just stop? I have tried messing with automatic and manual settings and changing ip adresses and all. I'm completely confused about it

How's your network setup, I have same random disconnection issue with my PC,360 & PS3 and I tried switching 2 routers to finally finding out that it's the modem that's incompatible with the new routers (still not fixed yet since it's a business class cable modem). I would recommend leaving everything to automatic and if you still have problem then restart your router &/or modem.

Also little bit more info would help, you said three months but when did started having connection issue.

You said you had error 80029020, here some info from psn forum

Make sure UPnP is enabled on the PS3 and Router.

Place the PS3 in the DMZ of the router or find the appropriate ports to forward to the PS3's connecting IP (set to static in the PS3 if you have it setting dynamicly in the PS3 for either)

I had it for three months with a wired Internet connection and never had any problems but like I said one day it just would not work so I switched it to wireless and when I use wireless it works but I get that error code. My 360 and pc work fine online it is just my playstation. Something just may of happened to my Ethernet wire though because I ran it my self and they run under the house. So I'll try another Ethernet cord to see if it makes a difference

I'm having a little problem with connection too.

I bought the black ops map packs over the weekend, they took over 6 hours to fully download... they didn't seem to be going too slow, then i tweeted the wait and someone replies saying it took them 10 minutes.

When playing it says i'm behind a strict NAT whatever that is.

It's wired

I think all console need auto-reconnect, none 360 or ps3 do that. Not sure about wii thought.

Also brad if you can't connect then do a backup and then do a hard reset. Since you pc 360 are working fine I'm guessing it?s with the ip address or you ps3, A hard reset will at least narrow down you option to fix the problem.

I picked my router but then it wants me to buy the program

Look on the top right of the window, you'll see "Click here to skip this advertisement..." and then choose "PlayStation Network" from the list.

In short you need to add the following port in your router setting under "Port Forwarding"

  Quote
PlayStation Network

TCP Port: 80, 443, 5223

UDP Ports: 3478-3479, 3658

Just try to reset network setting on ps3

1. Select (Settings) > (Network Settings).

2. Select [internet Connection Settings]. Select [Yes] when a confirmation screen is displayed stating that you will be disconnected from the Internet.

3. Select [Easy], after it connects to PSN just press [X] then test the connection.

If that doesn't work, let us know.

Before going any further give you Modem and Router Name and model number, then I know if you know how to check duplex on your router. IF you do then check what it is on the router and change only Speed and Duplex setting on your PS3 and match the duplex speed to your router.

Alright, I fixed my wired connection. One of my Ethernet ends I crimped on came loose I guess. But it's working now which is good so I don't have to fool with the wireless. But my connection speeds are failing but then it throws that code and it gives me my speeds after the code pops up. My internet still works so idk if that affects anything but does anyone know why that would throw an error code?

    • Edge 138 is out with AI-powered history search and other changes by Taras Buria Microsoft has released Edge 138, the latest major update for the browser. Version 138.0.3351.55 introduces some interesting changes and new features, such as AI-powered history search. There are also several bug fixes and security patches. For regular users, the biggest and most important change in Edge 138 is AI-powered history search. This feature allows you to find sites in your history using synonyms, phrases, or misspelled words. Microsoft uses an on-device model, which does not send your data anywhere. Note that this feature is rolling out gradually, which means it might take a few days or weeks to show up on your system. Another useful change is new performance notifications. Performance and Extensions Detector notifications may appear in the main menu when the browser detects performance dips to help users learn about available performance-optimization tools. Autofill settings received a new consent toggle, which allows Microsoft to improve the autofill capabilities by collecting field names as you browse. This only applies to field names, such as "First Name, "Email," etc. It does not send the data you enter or autofill to Microsoft. Other changes include the following: Use the Primary work profile as the default profile to open external links. With this feature, for Windows, Edge checks if the Primary Work Profile exists and makes it the default profile for opening external links if available. Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat Summarization in Microsoft Edge Context Menu. This feature helps users quickly unpack and ask questions about their open page. Copilot on the Microsoft Edge New Tab Page (NTP). Users may see suggested work and productivity-related Copilot prompts in their search box on the NTP page. Adding support for viewing Sensitivity labels applied to a Microsoft Information Protection (MIP) Protected PDF. Enterprise customers can view sensitivity labels applied to MIP protected PDF to be well informed of the data classification to enable them to handle such sensitive documents. And here is what was fixed: Fixed an issue that caused WebDriver automation to fail in Microsoft Edge versions 133 and later. Fixed an issue where re-enabled textarea elements remained non-editable. This issue affected activating a role assignment in Privileged Identity Management. Finally, Edge 138 patches six security vulnerabilities, three of which were Microsoft Edge-specific, and the remaining three originated from Chromium. You can find details about those fixes here. The next Microsoft Edge update, version 139, is expected in the week of August 7, 2025.

    • Per the linked article: "Based on testing performed by Microsoft in December 2024 using Geekbench 6 Multi-core score comparing a selection of Windows 10 PCs with Intel Core 6th, 8th, and 10th generation processors and Windows 11 PCs with Intel Core 12th and 13th generation processors." I get that this is just advertising and all, but damn, I can smell the BS all the way over here. How about benchmarking 10 vs 11 on that same 13th gen processor? Apples and oranges make a lovely fruit salad but a terrible comparison. I mean shoot, my Windows 10 PC running a Ryzen 7 is faster than a Core2Duo running Windows 7, so Windows 10 is clearly faster. 🙄
    • KB5060829 installed in a test VM and the option isn't even there under "Taskbar behaviours". Installed it on a second VM, same. Installed it on metal... same. Typical quality of Nadella's Microsoft. If i doesn't shrink the taskbar vertical height down as @seeprime is implying, what's the point?
