Dashel
Anyone know how to stop IE9 from opening any links dragged to the desktop in a new window? I was hoping it was a beta bug. Its fraking annoying. Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/982470-internet-explorer-9/page/10/#findComment-593796302 Share on other sites
kaotic
Are there any addons like greasemonkey that can run .js files on IE9? I haven't found one. :( Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/982470-internet-explorer-9/page/10/#findComment-593796746 Share on other sites
osm0sis
Here's another neat trick I just remembered: IE9: Increase the Number of Sites Displayed on New Tab Page (Your most popular sites) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/982470-internet-explorer-9/page/10/#findComment-593796850 Share on other sites

George P Global Moderator Posted March 17, 2011 Global Moderator Share Posted March 17, 2011 One thing I've noticed in the final, and maybe this is due to installing speckie though I have it dissabled right now, since I leave IE open 24/7 etc after coming back to it after some time has passed if I click on older tabs I haven't went too in some time there's a small delay which I'm guessing is due to it paging into ram maybe? Anyone else notice this? I don't think I had this in the RC before and the only change was the addon that I installed this time around. I noticed that speckie caused some delay when I used google search, it took a few seconds before I could open any links returned, but after disabling speckie, opening links was instantaneous. Maybe try disabling all add-ons and see if it happens, might be an out-dated add-on or something. I think it's speckie to, it's the only add-on I have installed other than flash which was there since the RC and leaked beta so I know it's not flash. Speckie is disabled atm so I'll see how it goes. This isn't on new tabs/sites that I open it's more on older tabs that I have already open but haven't clicked on for hours which is why I was also thinking it could just be IE9 paging out the memory for that tab since I haven't used it in quite a while. I keep 4-5 tabs open for sites I might not go back to after 4-5 hours etc. *edit* Oh and one last bit of info the click delay ONLY happens the first time, after that the tabs switch back and forth fast just like new, so ya, could be some memory paging going on. Anyone have tabs open that they've left sitting there for 4-5+ hours before going back to notice this? neo158
Can anyone confirm if they can launch and play GTA4 while having IE9 installed? Yes it works, I tried it with the RC and had constant SecuROM issues with wininet.dll, a known issue AFAIK. BetaAddict
looks like i will be switching from ie 9 final to FF 4 final this upcoming week. Never even made the switched. Used IE9 like for 15min and switched back. It sure is fast, but not noticeably different from FF4 in my case. I assume the next thing for MS to work is addon implementation and support for js scripts. Once they add that, it will be more suitable for my use. yowanvista
IE9 looks like a rushed release, so improperly tested before public release. They should release a new version 9.x to address all these issues Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/982470-internet-explorer-9/page/10/#findComment-593805890 Share on other sites
-KJ
They should add text-shadow support seeing as it is often used nowadays. Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/982470-internet-explorer-9/page/10/#findComment-593805896 Share on other sites

Simon.
So I can install the final version of IE9 and still be able to play GTA4? Works fine for me. The only issue I have noticed is some rather high memory usage with some embedded flash applets. I've switched from Firefox to Chrome to IE 9, and can say it's my new favourite browser. cork1958
I'm curious what issues? I figured IE9 was prolly more tested than anything else released previously. No doubt. I thought it had been tested longer than usual. No issues what so ever on 8 installs!! The only thing I've noticed is it resets my cache/temp internet file size. Why does MS always insist on making that so huge?! cork1958
250MB is huge? Well that was my default size anyways but I moved it down to 100MB. On 2 drives of mine it had changed it to 1250MB!! I set mine at 50MB all the time. I have older machines and smaller hard drives compared to most people. I don't save squat on my computers, so no need for a huge hard drive. Out of 8 machines, biggest hard drive is 1 @ 160GB's. All others are 80GB and smaller.
