Why no releases? Because life happens.

Exactly my point. Don't take VS permissions from an author and then start up a project to say that you are going to finish their work if you can't finish it in the first place. Life happens, so don't tell someone who IS doing the theming that they can't release their own work on something that you can't finish....am I missing something here?

I edited my comment at the start of this thread simply because I didn't want to get into the childish bickering that often appears here anymore, however I find it amusing that because a person has a life outside of the computer and creating/modifying a visual style to appease the want-more's, this person no longer has the "rights" granted to him by the original vs author. Life does not always allow us to do everything we want to do or as we planned to do. I've never released a visual style/theme, even though a number of people on this board have seen works-in-progress from me on numerous occassions. Why no releases? Because life happens.

And all this bickering from people who are getting excited over a vs that hardly justifies being called LunaIII. As I originally stated (in my edited post), LunaII.b might be a better name. *shrug* I'm probably getting into something I knew from the start was pointless, but the attitude people have anymore is disconcerting. So much for civility and common courtesy.

point taken. But if you know you won't have much time to work on it, what is the freakin' big deal if someone else releases their own mod for every one to use. The original author did exactly that, to be "PCness" with the rights and stuff, man, it's only a freakin' theme. Some people just needs an ego boost or something. Although, I agree with you that it should not be called "LunaIII" as they're just minor mods.

The point I was trying to make is that while unique may have originally planned on working on the changes/enhancements/etc for LunaII, life had other plans in store for him. His problem with this whole situation appears to be that the "author" of this modification of LunaII made no real attempt to seek permission (but certainly claimed he did, the truth could be somewhere in the middle as it usually is, not my call to make). M. Gartner didn't want just anyone making mods of his visual style, most of you should remember that from when he was actively creating the vs. In addition it took him a good bit of time before he decided to hand over the rights to unique (or anyone for that matter). So what's the difference?

True it is just a theme, which isn't anything in the grand scheme of things, but then, why is paying common courtesy and respect to the author(s) of the theme such a hard thing for everyone to do? If you can't get permission to release a modification of a theme, then what's the big deal? You created the mod for yourself did you not? So why is there this intense feeling of need to make it accessible to everyone regardless of the permissions given or not given? Some may say the authors "whining" about permissions need an ego boost (which is sometimes true), but I say the same goes for those who release unauthorized mods.

I agree with what has been said above. Mr. Blacks version is just what this theme needed, since Unique did a pretty awful job with it. (Sorry for being blunt...)

However, Mr. Black, there are still a few things for you to fix. The Start button looks a bit wonky when hovered, especially with a vertical taskbar. Also, this theme would benefit greatly from some contrast. It's a bit bleak as it is, which is actually counter-effective as far as ergonomy is concerned. Especially the scrollbars need to be darker and have more contrast. As it is now, they almost disappear on a bad monitor. This is something that has been a huge problem since LunaII first was released.

You could put it so that the blue parts of the theme needs to be darker. Then it would be just about the best you can do using MSStyles.

Oh, and don't remove the gradient toolbars. It looks a lot better now that you've added it again. (^_^)

Looking forward to updates. This is going to be great!

Hardly the case bant. If unique didn't have time to "theme", he shouldn't have taken over the project and claim the permissions as his own. Simple as that.

wow, all you people here are simply way too impatient. Since when does me taking over the theme mean I will get it done right away? You morons think that because I took it over meant that in 2 weeks you would have a finished theme? God, get a clue. Biko, if you are so hard pressed to get this theme, get your lazy ass to tgsoft and grab stylebuilder and do it your damn self. I never set a solid date for a final release, nor did I say this would be my only thing to do in life. You people bikering and whining truly have to take into consideration that some people are not sitting in their parents' houses waiting for the next day of highschool (while i know many aren't, and my apologies, this is not directed at you).

I have made many changes to the theme biko, not my fault your brain is simply too dull to catch them.

I am the rightful 'owner' of the theme now, passed onto me by gartner, and all other mods are a rip, simple as that. So what if I take more than a few months...deal with it. And don't take it out on me. No one seemed to have a problem when I was releasing betas. Believe me, I want this theme done asap so I can be rid of you whinning children. There is NO deadline for my theme, and just because it isn't done right away, doesn't mean other people can go around releasing their mods. Personally I don't care if people mod, but only if they are curteous enough to approach me for 'real' permission.

But seriously, I will be finishing this theme, and taking any future projects to dt2 or something where people aren't flammed because of a busy life. Neowin may be a great source of information, but it is a lousy source for patient/mature/professional members. (with a few exceptions.)

Man, that was ingenious...the whole conclusions train!

Why don't you get busy with some updates instead of trying to comment on peoples' maturity level? START on your theme and then people will get the inclination that you'll finish it. Changing the shape/size of some caption buttons over a three month period isn't considered progress by many, chief!

Most people won't even notice the changes made to this. Some font work, a bad start button mod and the borders. Good work taking a stagnent theme and re-releasing it though. In my opinion there are a couple of luna mods out there that leave this in the dust. I'm interested in what Mr Black will do with this though.

Your a prime example.

In closing, the time it took you to create your well thought out reply *sarcasm*, you could have finished the theme, or atleast fixed maybe 1 bug.

Biko, you dont win an argument by changing the subject or trying to damage your opponents character(thats a common falacy, and poor approach to winning over an audience). Attack the subject. You obviously have a problem with uniques rather unfortunate work schedual, and have a hard time understanding that whether or not it was right of him to keep the project as his own, it is still his project now, and should be respected as such. If you dont like what Unique has done with it, or the way he works, simply stop showing interest in the theme. Obviously something about Uniques work still interests you, as you still complain about his slow updates.

Unique.... I always believed actions speak louder than words, and i think now is a very good example of that. Stop talkin and prove all these guys wrong. Until you do that, your posts will not gain much(if any) support. One of you needs to be the bigger man and just stop with the name calling and bickering.

Whether you like it or not, Unique has been passed ownership of the images and xml used to create the lunaII msstyle. Any modified versions of the style need to be OK'd by him for release. Whether you like playing games or not Mr. Black, a download should not be put up if you do not have permission. If you are THAT tired of dealing with unique, then dont, but don't release your theme either.

I'll remeber that for the next time I attempt to win over an audience.

Im mainly trying to point out what no one has said so far, Unique is lazy. He has the right to be lazy, we all understand from your surmons from past posts. But I also have to right to call him lazy.

I am a huge fan of this Subforum, many great themes have been released here. One thing you'll notice is that respect is given where respect is earned.

If you take a look and read the posts from threads created by Dazzla, ThemeNorth, spyglass, tiger2k, ChaNinja, Kol, Scout01, b0se or Binary, you wont find whining, you'll find respect. Unique gets upset that no one gives him any respect because he changed the font size of a theme.

BTW, you realize you used the word falacy in a sentence.

Has anyone here care to read over all the replies to find out that you guys have been doing the bashing and whining? I dunno, just a thought. And unique wouldn't have run into this problem if this thread never started or if Mr. Black obtained proper permission from unique.

Excuse me, but this VS was not meant to start an argument...

As usual, some like it, others don't. If you want to, send suggestions for improvement to me at [email protected] please. This release wasn't meant to be a major overhaul of LunaII, it was meant to have a few things changed.

Unique, if you want me to post the emails I sent to you about III i'll glady do it, I didn't simply just ask "How is the theme going"...shows how little memory you have. And this is NOT a Rip. If it was a rip, I would be taking complete credit for LunaII from M. Gartner myself. I specifically said it was by him originally, and to credit him if you redistribute it. It shows how little tolerance you have for others who are artistic and you want to have a chokehold on LunaII. If I made a brand new theme/VS, I would want to see others Modifications of it, as long as proper credit was given. You act like a little kid - "It's mine and noone else can have it!".

I spent DAYS working on this. If you do not have the time to work on LunaII, tell Gartner and let him choose someone else who will do the work and has a reasonable amount of time. I'm sure you've made some good changes and all, but apparently everyone thinks you need to work harder on it.

Otherwise, your update is still here. People can download III, II and whatever else. So what's the problem? If you want to work together like I originally suggested in the emails, please contact me at [email protected] and I will be more than willing to.

    • KillerPDF 1.4.2 by Razvan Serea KillerPDF is a lightweight, portable PDF editor for Windows built for users who want full control without subscriptions, installers, or telemetry. It runs as a single executable, making it ideal for USB use and field work. You can view PDFs with smooth PDFium rendering, navigate quickly with thumbnails, zoom, and shortcuts, and reorganize pages using drag-and-drop. It supports merging multiple PDFs, splitting documents, and extracting selected pages. KillerPDF also allows inline text editing with font matching to preserve the original layout, plus annotations like text boxes, freehand drawing, highlights, and reusable signatures. You can search full text, copy content easily, and print documents with flattened annotations. Designed as a free and open alternative to bloated PDF tools, it works fully offline on Windows 10/11 x64. No runtimes install. Everything needed is inside the EXE (targets .NET Framework 4.8, which ships with every supported Windows release). KillerPDF key features: High-quality PDF rendering via PDFium Edit PDF text inline (double-click to modify text) Page thumbnails and fast navigation with zoom and shortcuts Merge multiple PDFs into one Split PDFs and extract selected pages Drag-and-drop page reordering Font matching to preserve original document appearance Text boxes for notes Freehand drawing tools Highlight overlays with adjustable color, size, opacity Undo actions and clear per-page annotations Create, draw, and save reusable signatures Click-to-place signatures anywhere Full-text search with highlighted results Drag-select or Ctrl+A to copy text Print with annotations flattened Portable single-file app (~10 MB) No installer, no admin rights required No account, no telemetry KillerPDF 1.4.2 changelog: What's new PDF form filling. Interactive PDF forms now render their fields (text inputs, checkboxes, radio buttons) as live controls. Fill them in directly and save — field values are written back into the PDF. PDF outline (bookmark) navigation. A new OUTLINES tab in the sidebar displays the document's bookmark tree. Click any entry to jump to that page. The sidebar auto-fits its width to the longest entry on open and can be dragged wider; switching back to PAGES snaps to the pages-mode width. Fixed Page rotation no longer reverts after saving. Rotations applied via the sidebar context menu now persist correctly through the save pipeline. Copied text words were out of order on PDFs where glyphs are stored in non-reading order (Issue #66). Text extraction now sorts words by position and uses a dynamic line-grouping threshold so both drag-select and Select All produce correctly ordered output. PDFs with malformed or non-standard XRef tables now open in read-only mode instead of showing "Invalid entry in XRef table" and failing entirely. • The very fact that a TPM (v2.0 specifically which is part of the issue I suspect) is now a baseline for any supported Windows installation will naturally mean other vendors will start to leverage it as they know it'll be there. It's called progress, and it's always been the way. A TPM isn't a windows thing, it's just a module designed to securely store keys. Secure boot isn't a Windows thing (although MS are the TCA as I recall hence the upheaval this year as the 2011 certs expire), it's just a way to verify a bootloader is signed. Windows simply leverages them.
    • It's a local account with the ability to reset a password at a very base level. I really don't get the issue that gets whipped up around it But you do you
