Calm VS WIP

Hi this is my first post and first visual style so lets hope all goes well. Anyway Calm(not final name) is a clean and detailed looking VS for windows 7 that I am currently mocking up and are looking for feedback and suggestions. So far the taskbar and start menu are done and working live, but there is still a lot of work to do. Let me know what you think :)

Needs a start icon in my view, that looks a little too flat. If you don't want an icon, add a subtle gradient.

Here is a mockup of the buttons/ form field, I think they might be a little to flat. I am going for a kind of clean minimal note look :)

Sorry haven't updated in a while, here is how the window currently looks. Also I was going to name this theme calm, then last night I decided to name it sharpy, after naming it sharpy I then decided to add round buttons;)

Yeah I just threw it there for the screenshot. I am still messing around with different startbuttons.

That actually looks great. It's somewhat minimalist and definitely not noisy and in-your-face like some themes are, and it's really pretty. There's also this feel to it that some themes don't have, or have only initially as you first glance at it, but after staring at it for a while it loses it. I'm really liking it so far. Keep it up! I'll be watching this, as I have yet to find a replacement for the default Aero theme that is as thorough and consistent in feel and look. Yours just might do though... maybe? We'll see.

Thanks for your great reply. One of my goals for this theme is to have good contrast and functionality in the content area, while the window should blend well with your backgrounds.

I worked on the start-menu a lot to make it look good on most backgrounds even though I recommend wallpapers that are smooth and not too harsh on contrast like complete black or white. Here is what the startmenu looks like on a light wallpaper.

Thanks for all the nice comments. Hopefully I can finish this visual style soon but I have been set back a bit by having to RMA my motherboard :cry: I should be able to get back to work in a week or so since ASUS says 10 business days.

Alright So I should be able to start working on Calm again Wednesday, since that is when I get my graphics card back. Yeah I had to rma that too since I was getting corrupted screens and bsods so hopefully the replacement will finally fix things. Also when I start working on Calm again I will be posting a lot of previews so you can critique my progress.
