Why does VMware Fusion only work right with the apple magic mouse?

If I wanna switch tasks between VMware and OSX, why does it only work right with the apple magic mouse and not my USB mouse? Any way around this? It's the only thing hindering me from using VMware fully.

Well ok, VMware has this "click in the window" (in the windows environment) to resume working in the VMware windows environment. Only seems to do it if I use the apple magic mouse though? And I can't go back to my OSX environment with a regular USB mouse, it's hard to describe.
