How to reset Windows 7 Reliability Monitor

Recommended Posts

I have deleted all the files in the C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\RAC\PublishedData folder and C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\RAC\StateData folder waited few hours but the same old chart reappers as if i have done nothing. wtf?

Is there a way to reset the Reliability Monitor once and for all in windows 7 to keep it tidy?

1) Open Start menu and click on Control Panel link

2) In the Control Panel window double click on Action Center icon

3) In the Action Center Window click to expand Maintenance arrow and then click on View reliability history under Check for solutions to problem reports

4) Now click on View all problem reports link given on the bottom of the Reliability Monitor

5) Now in the Problem History window right click on the problem to be deleted and select Delete. To confirm click on Delete button in the confirmation dialog box.

OR

Click the Clear all button to delete all the problems in the history. To confirm click on Clear all button in the confirmation dialog box

make sure your viewing all hidden files, etc. And close the graph or the files will not delete, then delete all the files in those dirs and then reopen the graph and will be blank.

edit: btw here are the files I deleted from those directories

You do understand you would have to clear your event logs if you don't want it putting stuff back in right?? ;) From your comments I would have to say thats the part your missing ;) My bad I guess took you would of known it pulls the info from your event logs.

notice how mine goes back a few days..

Empty your event logs, then delete the files again - and then you will be completely clear.
