Core i3-2100 vs Phenom II X4 955

Wasn't everybody going on about how AMD was finally making a comeback, not too long ago? What happened?
They're supposed to, with Bulldozer in Q2 of this year. No benchmarks as of yet, so at this point it's just hope. I really don't want Intel to monopolize the desktop cpu market.

OP, if you're paying any more than ?100 for the graphics card you should consider this card for ?98+VAT:

Its more powerful than the 6850.

I didn't mean to come across like that. I was just making the point that the average gamer doesn't need a massively powerful number crunching processor.

Are you sure about that? Pretty sure that CPU power is very important to a game's performance. Whether it's more, similar, or less important then the graphics probably depends on the game, but I'd like to see you play Assassin's Creed 2 on a 2.2GHz Pentium. Obviously an extreme example, but trust me, you'll see differences in performance when the speed of two CPUs vary enough.

I only buy Intel, personally, but I still would love to see AMD make a comeback. Just so that Intel can have some competition. Nothing spurs development better then a bit of rivalry. Speaking of which, I remember reading way back that there was a new Chinese company that started producing CPUs, though not for the consumer (yet). I wonder what their plans are.

I'm from Poland and the pricing here looks a little bit different :) But I took a look at 5850's at the store where I'm gonna order, they only have 4 models, all more expensive than the 6850 I picked. Considering what I'm using atm I'm confident the speed bump's gonna be noticeable anyways :p (

Then Sandy came along :p haha

I was waiting for Bulldozer to show up before I built my PC, but I just couldn't wait any longer~ I just hope they show up before Ivy does :s
