USA should switch to plastic if they want to stop counterfeit notes. It would be very hard to copy a plastic note, and thats probably why I havent heard of anyone counterfeiting plastic notes ever.

Because they're plastic doesnt mean they're cheap, in fact they feel very good, because like Righty said, you can feel every thing printed on them which gives them a really good texture.

I do hear US notes have very impressive anti-counterfeit measures yet they dont compare to plastic money.

I found an interesting read on plastic notes on CNN.com:

looks cool. i think i heard somewhere that their going to change it every year, just another thing to get use to. the US Mint should take a hint from the Australian Mint and use a plastic window.

Yeah, plastic does work well (we've had it here for 10 years maybe?).

They'll never stop counterfeitted money cold, but with this action, they can hope to slow it down. Even if we went with plastic, around the world, lots of countries will always want to counterfeit US money, it's a method of attacking us, since we're living so well. Saddam Hussein is said to have had Printing Presses which were creating counterfeit US dollars, "Superdollars", which actually looked better than the legal US Currency. BTW, I think these new bills look nice :)

american money looks real ugly imho, no colour and just looks really outdated :x

the canadian notes look better

/me pimps english ???

English money is the be:D :D

/me wonders when they are going to update the ?50 notes.

Also a note for people in EnglanWithdrawal of Stephenson ?5 Notee

oldfivefront.jpg

oldfiveback.jpg

The Bank of England is withdrawing from circulation the older style ?5 notes that show a portrait of George Stephenson. Holders of these notes may continue to use them, but after the 21 November 2003 they will not be widely accepted in shops and other retail outlets. This is because these notes will no longer be legal tender and may therefore be refused as payment.

For several months after the notes stop being legal tender, most banks, building societies, and Post Offices will accept Stephenson ?5 notes for deposit to customer accounts and for other forms of customer transactions. In many cases it will also be possible to exchange small quantities of the Stephenson notes for current series notes. However, agreeing to exchange notes is at the discretion of the individual institution.

The new style ?5 note with a portrait of Elizabeth Fry (see below) will remain in circulation. All Bank of England notes from which legal tender status has been withdrawn remain payable at face value forever at the Bank of England in London. Any such notes may be presented for payment either in person during business hours, or sent by post (at the sender?s risk) to Exchanges, Bank of England, Threadneedle Street, London, EC2R 8AH.

Why should I want money with lots of colours ? Do you really get more happy when your boss pays you and you see all the colours  ?

and IMO UK money should have instead the faces of the queen , more new faces , i mean like Margaret Thatcher or i dont know perhaps David Beckham

or Ali G

think about it ? Gareth Gates on your money . . .

wouldnt be that wonderful ?

Just a question, why do so many countries bear Queen Elizabeth's face on their currency? Naturally you'd expect the Pound to have the queen's face, but why does Australia, Canada & New Zealand all have the queen on one form of currency or another?

I understand that all these countries were under the rule of the british empire once, but are they still obigated to the crown?

just my two cents

And our money also has a guarantee, note the "I promise to pay the bearer on demand the sum of...". The Bank of England will always exchange old notes.

the us mint will, too. in addition to taking in old money and exchanging it, they will take any money turned in that came from a fire, flood, buried in the ground...whatever...and they will try to reconstuct the pieces and get a certain percentage so that they can return the amount to the person who turned it in. saw it on a disc/history/travel channel/etc doc on the mint.

Technically, at least Canada is obligated to the Monarchy. We have a constitutional monarchy.

I dunno how people can think American money feels fake, it's made out of cotton. And nobodies got nothing on our gold dollar, so poo on all of you. Sure it's like, $350 or something, but it sure is neat.

you mean this?

Z31_popup.jpg

it's the american eagle and it's based on the original augustus saint-gaudens coin and the 1oz gold proof goes for $630.00. i've never seen anything more beautiful. our standard circulation coins may be poopy to look at, but our special coins ROCK.

i love the wright bros commemoratives that are becong available now.

Those (plus about 12 other) countries all have Queen Elizabeth II as their own head of state . Technically the monarchies of these countries are seperate but 'share' the same monarch.

    • Regarding the AI photo, I LOVE AI in that regard, you ask it what you want and it gives you a lovey photo in under a minute, that would taken me an hour to make in photoshop and it wouldn't have looked nearly as good. 2 nights ago I spent a couple hours collaborating with AI.  I did not say write me an article. I would write one or 2  paragraphs, then I would ask it to clean it up so it read better but still keeps the information I was trying to convey.  Rinse repeat.
