Windows 8 still has Windows Basic theme

Recommended Posts

Well why did they bother restricting access to the themes if they are not going to properly remove the themes?

It's more of a bug than a feature really. I think MDI child windows in general have the Windows basic theme in Windows 8.

Still that means they haven't removed the theme.

Easier probably, and 99% of Win 8 users wouldn't have a clue it was even there, let alone want to enable it

Maybe but they could surely notice that part of the application is themed differently and might be curious on how to enable it.

Doubt it, the majority of PC users just accept how windows is set up as default, maybe change the wallpaper at most

I know Microsoft apparently replaced all the existing Windows Vista/7 themes but look at this screenshot. It has the Windows Basic theme in the sub windows of IcoFX. :)

That pic is so small that I almost spooned out my eyes to get em closer to the screen :/

not really...

It was MASSIVE originally but sized it down, but it does not matter as it still proves the basic theme is there :)

Sadly that's probably true.

Sorry to bump this post but, I noticed when my graphics drivers were installing, all my windows switched to basic them for a split second. Does anyone know if Windows Basic theme can be enabled somehow?

Yes it is. There is also a way to hack it, to bring it back :p

The thing is... Aero basic is... well... too basic...

The Classic Theme works on: Windows NT (NT4 and Me) and on Modern Windows (95, 98, 2000, XP, Vista and 7)

On all versions of Windows NT and on Windows 85, 98, 2000 and Vista, the Classic Theme is known as the Standard Theme

The Basic Theme works on Windows XP, Vista and 7, although It is used in Windows RE and PE for 8 and above.

In Windows XP, this is known as the Luna theme if you remember back in 2001. The Math Input Panel in Windows 10 1703 and newer also shows the basic theme. Some software that are comptible with windows uses the basic theme as a window inside the software. Sometimes, the computer glitches out and show the basic theme for a few seconds.

The Aero Theme works on Windows Vista and 7.

In Windows 8, 8.1 and Windows 10, the Math Input Panel should show the aero theme before the aero theme was replace with the basic theme in 2017.

The Metro Theme works on Windows 8 and 8.1

The Aero Lite theme works on Windows 8, 8.1 and 10 as a high contrast mode, and is also known as the basic theme in Windows 8 and 8.1

The Metro Theme was updated on Windows 10.

    • Deal for those who want 1900 size electronics in their house? with 2026/7 hardware mhm.. not nice
    • Cheap labour, the same as the U.K. China pays their people pittance.
    • Those people that come over here on boats are already in a safe country, if they want to come over here then do so correctly though the right channels. I was born in the U.K, my family that came over here came so via the proper means. My partner came here via the correct channels, she also became a British citizen, she knows more about this country than most of them that was born here, including myself, she worked hard to do what she does. She will stick up for this country and have done a few times, when people from her own part of world have put the U.K down. We are not going to agree, all I said to start with is that maybe Trump has the right idea with this America first thing and maybe we should start doing the same. Maybe not as drastic as what he is doing, but we do need to sort this country out, we need to sort out tech instead of relying on the U.S and others. Again you have not shown why you are so annoyed that we have left the E.U and this is what it is all about? If you don't live in the U.K and live in the E.U are you annoyed that we left your little club? If you live in the U.K and is pro-E.U, then fair enough then I can see how it annoys you. Are you one of these people who lives in the U.K and have a holiday chalet in the E.U and can now only stay there for so long? If so, then that is bad luck. As I have posted before, I have no problem with people coming here to work, as long as they do if via the proper channels. We are out of the E.U, people voted out, and maybe if more people had voted instead of sitting on their backsides the results would have been different. But they like the E.U and our government thought no we would not vote to leave. How wrong they were, surprised me. I expected to wake up in the morning and hear on the radio that we voted to stay. As I said, we are out and have been for 10 years, we are not going to go back in anytime soon if we ever do, so we all need to make the best of how things are. Anyway, this is supposed to be a tech site.
