It's much better than I expected. One thing that stood out to me was the lighting.

Doesn't look to great, just looks like another generic linear stealth game, what made the Hitman games great was they'd put you in an area and you had to find a way to complete the missions without killing anyone and there'd usually be multiple ways to do it, this just seems meh.

If they do go the way the video seems to suggest this game will fail, then it's trying to compete with Splinter Cell and Batman AA and this game doesn't look as good and I doubt it'll play as good as the others, I hope I'm wrong though.

This looks like it's trying to be Splinter Cell: Conviction in its gameplay style, more or less. While the level of detail is neat, the level details are not what I'd expect from a Hitman game (cwutididthar?). I also heard a couple stolen or recycled sound bytes in there from other places :/

I had bad feeling that they were going to stray far from the games I once loved since they dumped 47's voice actor.

I feel sorry for them, they are damned if they do and damned if they dont. If they create another game in the spirit of the old ones people cry that its just more of the same, and if they try and make it more accessible then people cry that its not like the old Hitman.

I was very apprehensive when they said they are going to make it more accessible, usually that means dumbing it down like Splinter Cell Conviction. Having watched the video however I am pleasantly surprised, there are a few iffy bits like being able to see through walls and see the paths of the guards, and the shooting escape.

What has me interested is the recently announced 'Hardcore' mode which sounds a lot like how you play the previous Hitman games where it rewards you for being stealthy, taking out enemies in interesting ways, being undetected, etc..

Ill reserve judgement till i play it, i hope this game is popular as i dont want one of my favourite franchises to just die, i REALLY enjoyed Blood Money.

There's a balance between freedom and giving the player a cinematic experience. Too much freedom would result in a bland sandbox experience. It'll be fun for awhile but once you do everything, your sense of directive is so far away that it's barely worth it to continue. With a more cinematic experience, you still have that sense of directive while having a bit of freedom (e.g. approaching from the top or bottom, etc).

I'm actually glad that they're going for the more cinematic route. The transition near the end of the gameplay video was great. It feels as though you're watching a movie that you can control.

Anyway, I'm sure it'll live up to the previous Hitman games. I certainly had a lot of fun playing Hitman 2: Silent Assassins and Hitman: Blood Money.

Were they supposed to be English coppers? They looked like it but they had... Brooklyn accents?

The seeing enemies through walls crap? What has that got to do with Hitman :/ I think this game will feel too "modernised" in comparison to the classics IMO.

I thought the video showed some great stuff. The gameplay looks solid, though I wasn't really pleased with 47 offing cops just willy nilly. That was totally not what he was about in the previous games. I hope they just did that in the playthrough to show off some of the animations they have in the game. If not, they're completely changing his character, and that kind of puts me off a little bit.

Before you guys go off on one read up about the Hardcore mode, it sounds like how you play the original games, silent, stealth, no detection, extra rewards for doing objectives in clever ways, etc..

Lets face it the last few hitman games didn't bring anything new to the series, at least they're trying to mix it up now and so on. Besides, I like being able to take out people with random objects and or hand to hand if needs be. That's more realistic right there. Why should a pro hitman only use a gun, piano wire or w/e you started the mission with before and not just his bare hands?

I should now be able to finish the game just using stealth and my hands, nothing else. I think this is a big change from the old games and worth it imo. I'm a fan of the series and I like what I see.

Back in the day that would be called 'normal' mode.

So they give the guy Batman's vision from AA, but not only that they also made it show the exact patrol the guy will take and where he stops? Seems kind of silly to me.
