Two updates keep re-appearing

Few days ago I installed the Express versions of Visual Studio 2010, which required a few pre-req's including .NET 4.

Since installing VS, every time I login Windows update tells me there are 2 updates. They install, and finish off when I shut down. But then when I reload Windows, the 2 updates re-appear

Any ideas?

Just turn off Windows Update and problem solved.

You can also manual check the updates if automatic updates are annoying.

if you dont see the problem its not there :p

i have had this problem before but not with these updates. try uninstalling .net framework (all version) and MSE. restart your computer and then run windows update. hopefully when it redownloads .net it will work properly.

It doesn't stop the system from applying security patches, it simply makes it manual. Remember to update Windows every week or so and you don't need this task running in the background.

Otherwise, as @Detection stated, right-click and choose "Hide"...Problem solved.

I had this a lot with Windows 98 I think.

I think it happens because Updates don't install in the right order, so the 'newer' patch undoes something that the previous patch changed.

So you keep getting another Update notice.

If you google it, you'll find that this isn't the first time those two updates keep reappearing.
