Is it possible to browse pictures by means of the arrow-keys in Windows 8 File Explorer?
So far, I have not found it. It works by importing/placing them into the Pictures-library.

I would like to do this the same way as Windows 7. Putting pictures/photos just somewhere in a folder on my HDD and than using the arrow-keys on my keyboard.

im not to sure what you mean, it seams to act the same as win 7 for me. do you mean when you double click on one picture and it opens photo viewer?

edit: if you just want to know how to open File Explorer then you can ether go to the desktop and click "libraries" at the bottom left hand corner. or in the start screen go to all app and click File Explorer, you can right click it to pin it to the start screen.

hopefully that's what you were wondering :p

Yes. It opens up Photos (Photo Viewer) and I cannot use the arrow keys to go to the next picture. Picture stays the same.
All from File Explorer on the Desktop that is.

I can use Windows Photo Viewer as default though, but I like the look/full screen of (Windows 8) Photos.

ok yep i think i follow
from what i understand if you want to keep viewing the next photo of that folder you need to basically start from with in the photos app. opening from the desktop to the photos app will only show the picture you have clicked. seams a bit silly to me but that's how it is.

^Oh, I didn't even notice that. I quickly replaced the Metro one with the old Photo Viewer. That can be a deal breaker for those who has pictures on external HDDs or, like me, does not put all of my pictures on the Libraries. :/

Click View and then click Preview Pane. Is this what you mean? I've just tried it and I can view pictures in File Explorer using the arrow keys.

Yes. That's the one I'm talking about.
Kinda silly indeed.
I'll just switch to Windows Photo Viewer as default. Thx.

Thx also for the other posts on this matter.
