I've just installed Windows 8 and signed in using Microsoft Account (email).

Then I installed Skype and signed in using Microsoft account as well (Skype Username merged to Microsoft Account).

On Skype, I can see list of Skype contacts and also include MSN contacts! When someone message me from MSN - I get two notifications from Skype and Messaging app..

Anyone having same problem?

What I would do is to try and unlink my Skype account with my Microsoft account.

I have the same issue. Microsoft needs to work it out.

The new notification system was meant to provide a unified system and prevent things like this happening. Unfortunately it's yet another half-baked implementation.

In the messaging app's options you can disable it handling notifications. This will leave Skype to handle IMs.

It's the first iteration.

Unfortunately, they haven't given us this option

Yeah, it's unfortunate. :(
