It's 2013. Do people still use dial-up?

Probably not that many. Nowadays that mostly means to be mindful of users using mobile devices and those who have data limits. It wouldn't be a good idea to post a massive image with a file size of 10MB, for example.

Yes of course, some people who live in the country that doesn't have cable or dsl setup in the area yet. A friend of mine lives in the country and use dial-up for their internet surfing.. so they use internet in small usages depending on their phone plan until cable/DSL finally arrive in their town.

I lived on the farm many years ago, that we didn't have a water line so we used the water well for kitchen, bathroom, etc. We used to have the water trucks deliver water to us. Now, they have the water line installed in that area.

My latest addition: Logitech G700 gaming mouse. I love it so far!

Anyone with a data-limited plan should turn off image downloading if they are worried about running over. Or simply not go to a thread that is basically ALL IMAGES.

or use Wi-Fi to do it

You should bring it over so i can hold it!

I'm thinking about replacing my razer naga epic. I never use the damn buttons. I have zero problems with it though other than the horrible and annoying razer software.

But i think a mouse like this would better serve me :D

let me touch it, just for a little, please.

where I got it they had a killer deal on it..... but it's 10$ more now so I had good timing LOL.

I hurridly snapped this tonight so the quality is pretty meh. I will try to remember to take a few shots tomorrow to give a better idea. I'll get inside my PC as well.

There are three computers in the shot, but only one is connected to the screens.

The one in the far left (Silver Cosmos) is my server, not too far from that is my rig (Antec Eleven Hundred), and tucked under my desk is some work machine used for work at home.

I need to find something to do with that SSD that has been sitting on my desk for a few weeks now...

You can give me the SSD. I want one dedicated to my VMs.

I was thinking of using it as a Linux boot disk and I could do Linux on that SSD and have Windows 7 on my current SSDs. I'll have to figure it out though. It originally was in my laptop, but I sold that and upgraded to a newer laptop. In that newer laptop I opted for a mSATA SSD with caching instead of a full blown SSD. I then put that SSD into my wife's computer, which has no SSD, and she gave it back to me and told me to just leave her with a HDD based setup.

I know... How could anyone turn down and SSD...

    • Population especially in high density areas creates more heat and more humidity. This can be noticed in an indoor arena or concert room which heats up when the room or arena fills with people, without air conditoning to cool it down, Watering of lawns creates more humidity as the moisture from the watering rises into the atmosphere, creating a more humid condition. The again, depopulating an arena or room after an event will drop the temperature inside. Desert areas are less humid for a number of reasons, including a lower population density. Tel Aviv has horrible weather, unless you like it hot and humid. Summer days are regularly 90+ F with humidity well over 70%. It is probably not as bad as Mississippi but still it is bad enough.
    • Where is the "Wow!" emoji? This'll have to do 🤩
    • I hear you on browser password manager, in my case I have two Google profiles, one was created when Google decided to grandfather us out of Workspace for Domains (with the replacement being too expensive for 25 users) resulting in my domain email address no longer being able to be registered to a new Workspace I created (for myself and another co-owner) so I could use Takeout and sync over some stuff to the new Workspace. Then I have my personal Google profile which I could be logged into on my desktop or Mobile, so I am saving passwords on one or the other, and when an URL changes another password for the same service gets added, it basically ends up being a giant mess. Unless I missed something is there a local decent password manager that can override the browser password managers for Chrome, Edge, Firefox (profiles) so that there is only one vault, and does that also support Passkeys (which to me are still confusing because sometimes it will ask for a Passkey on a phone I am no longer using!) Microsofts implementation of Passkeys is the worst!
    • It's utterly baffling that we have no idea when we'll get new features even well after they've been released. Why Microsoft thinks this is a good rollout strategy is beyond me.
    • If it makes anybody happy, others will need to be bitter about it. (apologies to Yogi Berra)
