A woman claims she was fired for having premarital sex by a Christian college in San Diego, California.

Teri James has since filed a lawsuit against San Diego Christian College in El Cajon claiming wrongful termination.

She admits that she became pregnant through having premarital sex, and has claimed that this was the reason the Christian college dismissed her. James has now hired high profile attorney, Gloria Allred, to argue her case against SDCC, according to KGTV.

In November 2012, Allred became the attorney for Natalie Khawan, twin sister to Jill Kelley in the General David Petraeus scandal, during her custody dispute for her son.

James has claimed that she was told by the human resources director at the college that she was not being fired for being pregnant, but instead for engaging in premarital sex. She claims she was given two options; quit or be fired.

Allred has made clear these allegations, telling media sources: "The HR director indicated that she was not being fired because she was pregnant. Instead, she was being terminated because she had premarital sex."

James was reportedly fired from the Christian college four months ago, where she had been employed as a financial aid specialist.

She claims that her employers were satisfied with her work until they learned of her pregnancy out of wedlock.

America makes the Taliban look positively liberal.

Actually it doesn't. If she signed a contract containing a moral clause, then there are within their right... heck, even without, it is a religious place that likes to keep up the morals that it stands for, then it is reasonalbe to end her employment if she tarnishes it.

Kind of like a bank firing an employee that files for bankruptsy, or stops paying their mortgage and tanks their credit, etc.

A job isn't a right, and if you don't abide by the 'rules' and company image, then you are out.

Religion once again proving how it does nothing good for the world.

Except ignoring all the good things that Christians (Again, not speaking for all religions, this topic is specific) HAVE done in the world with regards to charity organizations if you've spent about 5 minutes researching. Jesus sets a perfect precedence for such. Of course, there are people who are corrupt in some organizations and have abused their privileges, but this is no different than any other charities -- on a general scale on a grand scheme of things your assertion is basically incorrect.

I am not about to enter into Neowin's infamous anti-religious trolling debate so this will be my last post in this tread about this. Moving on...

Exactly.

California is an at-will work state meaning you can be fired for any reason or no reason. Basically If an employer fires you because of your race, sexual orientation, sex, etc, it is a wrongful termination. If they just don't like you (or you get pregnant out of wedlock and they don't like it) you are out of luck.

Huh ???

Is this legal in USA ??? Please don't tell me it is.

Here such a clause is void even if you sign a contract with it. The CNT laws override such clause.

Not really; she was fired, not set on fire.

Nah under Taliban rule, she'd just get 80 lashings if the guy she had sex with was unmarried too. If not, well then she would have been stoned to death.

Edit: Same for the guy.

Edit 2: If she was pregnant, they'd wait until she'd given birth to the kid and the kid had grown out of breastfeeding age and then the punishment would be administered.

Perfectly legal. Morals clauses are typically seen in the contracts of public figures, such as athletes, actors/actresses, and others.

A caring religion would help her raise the child and make accommodations for her situation, not deprive her of her only source of income and publicly humiliate her. It's sad that religion is applied in a fundamentally intolerant way. Can you imagine Christ's second coming in today's society? Christians would brand the unmarried pregnant mother-to-be a ###### and kick her out on the street to sell her body to make ends meet, where she'd get addicted to drugs and give birth to the meth addicted, HIV-infected Son of God.

This, end of thread basically.. as long as she wasn't terminated because of a protected class as said above.

and I wonder what have you done good for the world???

I've seen church helped the homeless and those in need (food, clothes, and place warm to stay, jobs you name it)

please tell us what good have you done for the world more than other religious institutions.

wow....um....is there something you need to talk about, like get off your chest or something? it is a Christian college, not a church. i'm sure the church would help her out is she needs help.

That is BS. Helping her with charity is 100% different than allowing sin and depravity under their roof by employees (which was the realtionship she had with the school).

Nice try though. People always assume that Christians have to bend over backwards and reward sin and evil... the Bible says no such thing. Love the sinner, hate the sin. Don't cast stones and think yourself sinless, but under no circomstances do you allow the sin to taint you.

I anyone else getting sick of the anti-American bigotry running rampant on this site?

As long as things keep happening that have no place in a modern country it's not going to go away ;)

Here's an idea: If you can't tolerate differences of opinion go to Stormfront and leave people interested in having actual discussions to it :D

When a woman is expecting child that's when she most needs support and financial security, yet some Christians think the appropriate behaviour is to terminate her employment and publicly humiliate her. It's disgusting. If there's any depravity taking place it's on the part of Christians.

Religion once again proving how it does nothing good for the world.

Well for the fairness,

She CHOSE to work there and She KNEW Christianity oppose premarital sex.

Let's say it's some rule of your work place. If you don't follow the rules you get fired, right?

So we can give the religion bash some rest.

Yeah, let's sue everybody!!!

Sorry, couldn't resist.

The correct American way to do it is sue Neowin.net.

Some women in Indonesia killed her male son today because she thought his weenie was too small. So do not blame Christianity , worse things happen in other religions in other counties.

    • iPhone 18 Pro drop-test video and photos leak on the dark web following a data breach by Hamid Ganji iPhone 17 Pro - Image via Apple Apple is seemingly facing one of the biggest data breaches in its history, and just a few months before the official debut of the iPhone 18 Pro series, photos, a drop-test video, a supplier list, and key phone components have reportedly been leaked by hackers. Last week, we reported that Tata Electronics, an Apple supplier and iPhone producer in India, was hit by a data breach. As a result, it was reported that more than 200,000 trade secrets and confidential documents belonging to Apple and Tesla were stolen by the ransomware group World Leaks. According to Reuters, the group has now leaked supplier lists, component details, and photos of the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro models on the dark web. One of the materials leaked by the hackers is a drop-test video of the iPhone 18 Pro, which is due to launch this September. The phone is shown in a gray color and has the same familiar design we saw on last year's iPhone 17 Pro series. The device also appears to be quite durable, though it seems to be thicker than last year's model. One possible explanation is that Apple may be using a larger battery in the iPhone 18 Pro series. Moreover, Reuters says it has seen at least six documents mapping many components in the iPhone 18 Pro models to their respective suppliers, including details on chips on the main circuit board and on battery and camera components. The documents reportedly detail hundreds of parts that will be used in the iPhone 18 Pro models. A person familiar with the matter told the outlet that Apple classifies this data as sensitive and “is concerned about the documents being shared on the dark web as they relate to unreleased models.” Apple is reportedly investigating the issue but has yet to issue an official statement.
    • You do you, I've just said that it first appeared in "home" version before it will be available in "work" one. I use Edge only because it still supports MV2 uBO extension even on Android - I'll switch when they stop.
    • I imagine that was a review or something? My reviews mostly contain a lot of images and galleries, but these are all webp too, but yeah it all adds up on the page load. Would help if you were more helpful with your critique instead of bitching and moaning like a Karen 😂 Because then we might be able to fix it for you.
    • If Valve refused to let them make the case, I wonder if they've already partnered with someone else to do it? The fact that they didn't seek permission/licence before diving straight in is incredible though
