Ad-Watch pops up every time i visit Neowin

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Can any one tell me why over the last week or so, whenever I visit Neowin Ad-Watch (part of Ad-Aware Plus) pops up a window telling me that spyware cookies are being deleted?

The cookies notified are all variations of the hitbox cookie. Is this the reason why I now have to log-in each time i visit Neowin?

Just asking as a bit concerned over it :o(

Hmmm ... one other thing ... I used to receive e-mail when some one replied to a thread i was in, but I dont seem to be getting that now, even though it is in the options ... Is this also a idiosyncracy (sp?) of deleting these cookies?

I had to relog in and check this htread to read the replies :o(

But ... LOL at Spyder reply :o)

You should all check to make sure that Kazaa or some other 3rd party app isn't causing these, Kazaa has been known to do popups at bad times.

I will not and have not ever used Kazaa on my sytem .. it is a tool used by Idiots who think they are 1337 becos they can get software free ...

I am at the moment relying on Redmak who advised that the hitbox counter will be removed this week, even tho this week is nearly up :o(

Look at my registration date. I'm visiting it uncounted times a day and it never caused a popup.

You should check your system for spyware like Gator.

And I'm serious, so don't start telling me I have no clue.

Tom_Servo .. As JasonC1986 said, they are produced by the Hitbox counter in the bottom right hand corner of the main page. I will not/have not ever installed known spyware ala Gator/Kazaa etal ..

Redmak mentioned that the Hitbox counter would go within a week, but its still here ... Thats why I use Ad-Watch by Lavasoft, it detects and then deletes the cookies :o)
